I love them both but it's got to be Joelinton because... a) The lows were lower Miggy came in and looked good, he just didn't have the end product. The fans were always on his side (which is why the Grealish comments were greeted so poorly). Joe cost twice as much and looked an absolute donkey, had very few redeeming features and the fans absolutely gave up on him. He was a "oh no he's playing today" feel about seeing his name on the teamsheet. b) The highs are higher I love Miggy and he's currently playing amazing. I can't see him being first team in a couple of years though, he is at his best right now and there is no higher ceiling for him to hit. Indeed, in all likelihood this form will dwindle out in the coming months and we'll be left with the loveable, smiling winger who can't cross very well and doesn't score. Joe I can envisage growing with the team/squad and still having an important role even when we're replacing others around him. The guy is a beast. He was also name-checked in the Brazilian media a lot towards the end of last season as the nation team midfield were seen to be struggling and the manager was playing his "favourites" so a couple of players were thrown at him as a 'why aren't these players getting called up' situation. The idea that under Howe he went from where he was to being discussed as an improvement on the likes of Casemiro is astounding (note that players like Coutinho, Fred, Fabinho, Pacqueta and Douglas Luiz may be all he has to succeed against for a place and you can see why it is plausable).
There's also a very very good crop of young midfielders coming through over there at present, one of which looks like we will have snared by the Jan window.
Yes Mig has always had talent, just most of the time he's been inconsistent or underperformed. Miggy has gone from average to outstanding, Joey has gone from dogshit to outstanding, so it has to be Joey.
Difficult to say, because both had people saying they were ****e before. I suppose people hated Joelinton more so you could argue for him, but the way Almiron is playing now he's carrying us for goals and is our top scorer, and appears more spectacular. I'm going for both 50/50, cannot decide.
Joelinton still but it's getting closer - I think if Miggy could add another 5 goals AND five assists this year I'd be looking at it closer. Still yet to assist a goal but who cares if he keeps banging in worldies!
For me it’s Miggy. He was going out the door. His effort was always there but I was worried there was no end product. Grealish has stoked a monster. Joelinton improved massively back end of last season. He hasn’t quite hit the same levels but he’s getting better. I just think with Miggy scoring and assisting now our RW issue has been resolved. If we had signed Diaby he wouldn’t even be playing. So for me Miggy. But both have improved immensely.
I actually think we could still sign a far better midfielder than Joe in Jan and it wouldnt cost us that much money. He's been pretty anonymous these past few games.
