Yes goalkeeper .Steady reliable keeper leaves defenders to concentrate on themselves and maintain their confidence.

Centre backs easily. We don't have a single one who'll be here for the coming season.

We arguably need to sign 4

We need somebody in every position, We have no games, weeks from training started, who cares what order they come in? Each deal will happen as soon as it's possible to happen, got to think about other teams covering so the order they come is impossible to dictate. So long as when the window closes we have what we need. I mean, It's not like we're going to say, No we can't sign you yet, you have to wait until we've signed a goalkeeper first. <laugh>

    GoalkeeperS (plural).

Even if you have good strikers, a sh1t keeper will cost you games .
Once he starts to make mistakes and lets in silly goals it knocks the spirit out of the side and the defense gets jittery.

As a secondary point it's probably the easiest position to fill.
It's still true that Keepers cost, relatively, much less than outfield players.
However a good keeper is just as important.

THE BIBLE OF FOOTBALL - (according to St Brian the Clough)

Start off with top Keeper, Centre Half and Centre Forward, hen build a team round them.

The idea that we'd be looking to sign players in a particular order is bloody ridiculous.

Might have been better to have titled the thread as-

Which position is the most important to sign -

    Just missing out the 'first'.

Think we need signings in every position, the ones that we definitely can't do without are centre halfs and a striker. Loads of time to go yet and i'd imagine that we'll see **** loads of ins and outs over the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Ok, not bothered on the order, there's no control over it anyway. We need to buy in every position, so long as we're well covered everywhere when the window closes.<ok>

Tell you one thing I'll be a relieved man when we get a decent keeper in. It was quite an achievement having three professional keepers on the books who couldn't save an Altidore daisy cutter if they were all in goal together.

It was in a tongue cheek a answer to a tongue in cheek question. From what I understand we are going to sign somewhere in the region of 15 players so that means at the moment we will be in for at least double this amount. We need goalkeepers as you have mentioned, defenders, midfielders and forwards. Whatever order they come in I don't really care. I just want us to get to the end of the window with a strong squad covering all departments.
