Do you think Tommy Smith might continue his impressive form since MM arrived? There was a lot of fuss around Cresswell when he first signed but seems to have stagnated recently. JET hasn't been around the first team for a while but we all know he has potential. Hewitt looks like a great prospect, but will he break into the first team next season? Nouble recently got a hat-trick for the U21's, perhaps a leading goal scorer for us in the future?! Hyam obviously, had a run in the team for a while now but hasn't been playing his best as of late. Then we also have Mings, Lawrence and probably some more I've forgotten. Not limited to just the youth, but who do you think will step up next season and have the potential to become a real fan favourite?
I'd forgotten about Taylor! He will be like a new signing all over again when he starts, looked good in the few games he did play for us
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing more of Smith and Hewitt. I think Tommy has just been going from strength to strength and I can see him grabbing quite a few goals from set pieces if we have some decent balls in from Wordsworth. I heard (from the 'naked football show podcast') that the level Hewitt is at now has been compared to the level Bale was at his age and everything I've seen and heard about him so far has got me very excited! I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing that the two players I have big hopes for are defenders, would be nice to get someone exciting in the midfield who can also grab a goal or 2 and make some darting runs forward!
I think we do have a fair few exciting players at the club, I'm looking forward to seeing Hewitt, Smith, Cresswell, Hyam, JET and Taylor next year but if they fit into Micks plans is a different matter!! I'm really not sure where I see JET and Taylor fitting into a rigid 442, we have so many players atm who are most comfortable behind the main striker and they are generally our most talented McGoldrick, JET, Martin and Taylor, I'd like to see Mick go for a mobile target man next season with 3 of those 4 behind him!!!
Look forward to seeing Taylor, most impressed, but how bad was his injury and how is his recovery going? Is he doing press-ups yet?!
I looking forward to seeing squad which is ours. I hate the fact that half our team are only here on loan. 1 or 2 quality loanees are fine to supplement your squad but when half the starting line up isnt contractually yours it just seems so short termist. I want to see a team grow together. We do have the basis of this type of team potentially with a lot of our players under the age of 25 so its not all doom and gloom.
I seem to remember an article last month saying he has been doing pilates in the gym (no joke) and is on track for next season
Well thats encouyraging wrighty! Maybe I should try pilates! It would be good to have a fighting full squad of mainly young players start of next season....most of which are actually ours! We do have the talent i am sure, but they just need encouragement and playing time in a winning team...ha bloody ha! Obviously MM cannot risk younguns at mo, and has to rely on old heads to get us out of the mess. Roll on next season, buti can remember us all saying that last March/April...and the one before!
Taylor is the obvious one to look out for yes, but bear in mind he has forthcoming court case, and there is the possibility of a custodial sentence if found guilty.
Frank Nouble. The others have already been mentioned but Frank is another I want to get more pitch time.
I'm looking forward to having a stable squad for a change. Also, if we can keep the current crop together, then i think we could actually be a force in a couple of years time. We have the nucleus for a good team, and, still a relatively young team. It's a far cry from the days of PJ who had upteen thirty-somethings in his team. My team for next season would be; Loach (24) Hewitt (18) Smith (22) Chambers (27) Cresswell (23) Jet (22) Hyam (21) Wordsworth (24) Taylor (25) McGoldrick (25) Nouble (21) With the average age being only 23...as i said above, if we can keep these, and add a few more, i honestly think these could be the boys to finally end our misery.
I wouldn't be against seeing that team tried out stretchy. The quicker we can get ourselves mathematically safe, the sooner Mick can start to tinker.
If any... But yes, I'd agree with you on JET, the most talented player we have and doesn't even make the bench...
Hewitt I've heard big things about the lad. I hope if we get mathematically safe then MM will give the lad a little run in the team. There's nothing better then seeing talented young players, who are ours, break into the team.
Reminds me, Stuart Watson tweeted a picture of this new feature in the press room of Playford Road training ground, quite a nice idea I think. please log in to view this image
