Having a discussion this morning with workmates about the Afghan war and we got on to the topic of who was the worst at war. A mate said that the U.S have to be up there after Korea, Vietnam and bailing out of Afghanisatan and Iraq. I thought the French, Napoleonic Wars, Franco-Prussian War, spanked in WW2, Indochina and then ****ed out of Algeria. Us Brits have kicked ass all over the globe for many a year and have been labelled the best military nation ever but who do you think is the worst at war?
The French-both during and post-war. Who else would have a Vichy representative appointed by the Nazis in Paris- and then make him President years later (Mitterrand). If we'd followed that trend, Oswald Mosley would have been prime minister.
The French actually have the best record. But most of their victories have been against minnows, when it comes to the big occasion they've often been found wanting. Obviously we're the best, despite some recent setbacks, we've punched well above our wait for the best part of a millenium.
You could make an argument for the Romans/Italians if you're going to include "The British" for a Millennium them
Jip, my old man used to say "we've fought in every country in the world-apart from Greenland." Maybe they'll find oil there and put that right.
France have a record of 132/185 battles won which I believe is the best European record at least Medrofail
What you're saying is that Medro could show-up bedecked in a full Union flag suit, waving a Union flag and his British passport but no matter what he's still got Tattie blood?
Mike's done all right out of it, plenty of tax havens for him to work in, Guernsey, Malta for example.
