In an age of £100m+ transfers and crazy wages, promoting youth from within has never been more important. So which club gives the best opportunities for it's youngsters ? Turns out that Leicester are top, by a long way. Arsenal are next on the list for giving youth players playing time and unsurprisingly Chelsea are second from bottom. Bit surprised that Utd, who've always had a good youth policy and have promoted young players to the first team are down in 10th. Also would have expected a few of the smaller clubs like Brighton, Burnley and Palace to use more youth players. The 'youth' table - 2018-19 Premier League Team Minutes Team Minutes 1. It makes sense that Utd and Liverpool are mid table in this as they can afford to buy and have the luxury of giving youth a go, with the Gooners it maybe tells a tale of why they have gone downhill if they are putting too many kids in there too soon. Chelsea are just dumb.
We've got an odd mix at the moment of either ageing players or very young players. We've got the likes of Cech, Koscielnly, Lichsteiner, Monreal, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang who are all either nearing 30 or past 30 years old and then some very young players like Holding, Bellerin, Mavropanos, Torreira, Guenzoudi, Iwobi, Maitland-Niles, Nketiah and Saka. We don't seem to have very many players in that 23-28 age bracket when players tend to be at their peak.

As well as those 3... Wilf Ndidi is only 21 (or 22) plus Maguire, Maddison and Gray are all early 20s ... we are definitely promoting youth ... but we do need some quality older heads in there as well right now
Southampton. Sunderland and Middlesbrough are also very good. Don't Leicester buy there's? Kind of cheating
A quick search says United’s is @3200 which is quite good considering Mourinho was in charge for most of it. Our youths are also top PL scorers with about 20, the next team has 4 iirc.
...it's a mix ... but as I've posted above ... Chilwell, Choudhry and Barnes have all come though the youth team set up ... ya cheeky ****
cant say I disagree on that regard Libby. Our Youth policy for the last decade has been a ****ing joke The amount of great talent we have let slip through our fingers, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Ake, Bertrand, to name but a few. Probably Hudson-Odoi too, eventually.
I still think Lewis Baker will come good, too. I used to watch him at Vitesse when I went over there. Very talented player.
