As the season draws to a close its time to nominate who you would like to be shown the door out of our current crop of players. Its not an easy one this season as there are quite a few out of our players in the running for the exit stage right award. Here are a few that you might say a tearful goodbye to:- 1) Calamity Kenneth-A dissapointing season struggled to impose himself as the main man, berated supporters after another dire performance.Parkes always cleaned up the mess Kenneth left behind.Choose any of the following very slow, rash tackler poor header of the ball..definately time to let him go (shame about the injury and 3 yr contract) 2) Bevan, likable player,ok for a back up but with his injury can we afford to keep him-no 3) Virgo,A tryer not been the same since his injury better players out there.Bye 4) Paterson,Legs gone much to slow, not another season in him time to say thanks and goodbye 5) Gill, midfield never works with him in the centre, better partnerships available Bye Bye 6) Clarkson,Injury prone, like him however he is not a central midfielder, offers little cover for defence where can we play him only problem is his contract is it 3 yrs hope not inclined to say goodbye. 7)Harrold,Is he better than Tounkara? Will he return from injury the same player, difficult one would you prefer a new attacker alongside Brunt? 8) Richards,Mood player inconsistent can be lethal then lethargic 50/50 bye 9) Anyinsah,Ability to tear defences apart one minute no control or bad first touch the next has he had enough chances?time to send to the bus station for pastures new 10) Hitchcock Scored his first goal on the weekend JW likes him bit like Duffy except scores less does he offer something different in attack that we need?keep him or Richards? Its not just the 10 above in the running your turn to nominate two and provide reasons why you would give them golden boot. COR View attachment 22779
Sorry I don't rate Hitchcock don't bother getting him back and Bevan I think wouldn't get in front of Mildenhall if we signed him and he's not going to want to sit on the bench.
i'll pick virgo and gill - think both are injury prone and high earners which we cant afford to keep in the treatment room. nothing against them personally.
Gill cos he's lightweight and we need to free up wages to tempt JJO'T to return and Bevan cos I think he's crocked. But to be honest, two isn't enough. Virgo, Paterson and possibly Kenneth should also go. I'd keep Clarkson, despite his high wages as I reckon JW can find a role for him and get the best out of the goalshy Jock.
Gill, Virgo, Kenneth, Bevan and Clarkson for sure IMO. Anyinsah and Hitchcock have been in the team this year that has been fairly successful for us in the second half, so maybe they help with team chemistry etc? If they are cheap, might as well keep them in house unless JQ has better replacements for similar money
Woodards contract ends in the summer following the awful anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained in the Bradford game, a career threatening injury which may not see him regain full fitness once he has undergone the operation. Given its a long way back to recovery and no guarantees I would guess that he may be let go or offered a chance of a contract if he proves that he is able to play a t the same level again. Wish him well but it does not look good. COR
Awful predicament for Woodards...and Rovers too. As he could still be a key player for us perhaps the fairest thing all round would be to extend his contract to the end of the year, and then take stock.
I think give him a further year. I know it is risky, but he has proven to be a brilliant player when fit. Give him a one year deal just to prove he can get fit again, and go from there.
CG very laudable however I know it sounds bad but you would not wish to pay him a high wage if he is injured and you have no way of knowing when and if he will recover especially with the FFS rules Rovers would need to spend a good portion of his wages on another player to fill his position perm or loan. COR
I know COR, its difficult because we know we have a brilliant player who is capable of league one football at the very least. Shame he has taken two terrible injuries lately and I really do hope its not the end for him, with or without us
would love to keep him chris. but COR is right as his wages will effect the rules. the right thing would be to keep him and support him while he battles through recovery. but maybe see if he can have his wages reduced until he proves he is fit enough.
Even though I don't like you lot, but keeping someone on who is not going to be playing for 9 months would be stupid giving these rules coming in. He would understand that, you will probably find that he is insured seeing as you have to insure everything these days. He might stay on drawing his insurance allowing him to train when recovered and take a short term contract when ready to prove fitness. Good luck to him anyway, no one should have their career cut short, whether he plays for you lot not.
Hopefully he is as Rodders states is covered by insurance which will go some way in covering off the salary issue however I am not sure what effect this would have under the new rules re expenditure vs revenue. COR
sorry c.o.r 2 aint enough... 1 beavon injury prone and a flapper 2 virgo.....just crap plain crap 3 gill.....not a leader nor consistant.....my 12 yr old daughter can play better than him 4 clarkson....overweight just not good enough for what rovers want to do next season...i'e promotion 5 kenneth Did alright when trying to get a deal but the wheels fell off before he got injured 6 anyinsah.... time to move on for me we need consistant players who give 100% all the time sadly joe cant give us that if i think of anymore i will let you know cheers Billy........UTG
I wouldn't move any of the first team on, but would clear out players like Gill, Virgo and the keeper.
