Just about to nod the beach ball in, at the far post where, let's face it, he's probably been hanging around for most of the match.

The News is running a story on Kanu's absence. Apparently he's in Nigeria and both Appleton and Birch want to take disciplinary action against him for boycotting training. And if he continues to boycott training over negotiations on how much he will recieved to tear up what's left of his contract then Birch will take the matter to the PFA.

If not turning up for training puts a player in breach of contract, which can then be cancelled..........

Can some-one please let Ben Haim's tyres down and steal his mobile.

I think the differance is in deliberately boycotting training rather than simply not turning up for reasons like car failure or heavy traffic or something. I think what Appleton and Birch are planning to do is fine Kanu for his absence - so if he keeps it up then we can fine him £300,000 and that'd cover the amount he wants to cut up his contract.

Is anyone else here on twitter?

Even the players, past and present including Rocha, Henderson, Pearce etc. all on the #whereskanu case.

Maybe this is the King's attempt to give us all something else to think about and take our minds off the current misery :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Surely he must realise that it's pointless taking this to the FL. If the club is liquidated, he'll get FA.

Oh my ****ing great aunt, how many more times do we have to repeat ourselve? We know that he's legally entitled to the money, but the fact of the matter is he does not need the money, he knows Portsmouth are on the verge of liquidation and the moral thing would be to accept a compromise. He's quibbling over money which could cause Portsmouth to be liquidated which is just petty and greedy. Comprende? And you think it justifies not turning up to training?

Plus the fact that he agreed to defer his wages. We haven't breached his contract.

I disagree. Kanu entered into that contract in good faith. Why is it "petty and greedy" to expect to be remunerated according to the terms of it?

It's petty and greedy because he doesn't need the money and because he knows that it could cause the club to be liquidated by sticking to his (unnecessary) demands. Tell me, would you have the same view if Southampton were in dire financial straights and it was a Southampton player doing this?

It's funny (well not really) how the anger has turned to the players, as though they are the ones who caused the problems.

Lampitt, Redgate & Byrom, the 3 board of director members who made the decisions that caused this latest disaster, have all put in "football creditor" claims. Despite the fact that they are all culpable, they will get their money out of the club - they are the ones who should be hanging their heads in shame, not the players.

Lampitt (along with the other 2) negotiated and signed off the contracts which the players signed in good faith. We shouldn't forget that the players have all been shafted as well - and despite the fact that they earn more than any of us, we don't "know" that they don't need the money.

I don't see why, at this stage, any of the staff (including players) would say okay I'll walk away with nothing. Chanrai isn't going to. Obviously Lampitt/Redgate/Byrom aren't going to - why do we expect the players to?

Can't say I'd be thrilled, but I'd understand. The company he works for is stiffing him out of loads of money. I know I'd want to get it back.

It really is funny how the club is getting all righteous over a breach of contract (has Kanu actually been paid recently?) when your club is ripping off every creditor it can.

I'm sorry I brought it up now, giving the petty bickering that followed it.

If it appeared I was criticising Kanu then I'm afraid my intentions were misconstrued. I mentioned "burning his bridges" because of the uncompromizing and accusatory tone his lawyer, acting as if Kanu hasn't known for months that isn't wanted at Portsmouth anymore and didn't know that actively and deliberately boycotting training isn't a finable offense. And I have yet to see any evidence that Kanu is staying in Nigeria because he has some as yet unexplaned job to do with the national team.

You seem to think Portsmouth are screwing him out of money by choice, fact is we can't afford it. It doesn't make it right, but I'm afraid that is the situation as it stands. I'm sure everyone would love to be able to pay off all the players in full. If someone has loyalty to the club and doesn't actually need the money, then perhaps they'd be prepared to waive what they are owed and after all, particularly when non-football creditors are getting shafted and haven't had their salary to build up a nice big bank balance. You're not on 10k a week or whatever it is, so it would be hardly the same.
