My uncle posed an interesting question today, where do you think we would be if we still had Pardew in charge? I can decide exactly, but we'd definitely still be up there.
You can't really know, because Pardew would have brought in different players to NA. Guessing, I think we would be on the verges of the play offs.
Agree entirely. Our squad wouldn´t be exactly the same so very hard to say....When Pardew got sacked we were sat in 14th position so who knows if we would even have got promoted to the championship!
I think if we're thinking hypothetically we would have to of got us to Championship or he would of been sacked before this season started. So either top of League One with no promotion, or mid table he got us promoted. I fully believe Nigel's Positivity has rubbed off onto the players and this and team spirit has got us to where we are.
Pardew would have got us out of League One no doubt about it. I think if Pards was still here we would still be performing above expectations
I was quite happy with Pardew as manager and am sure we'd have done well, but he didn't buy into Cortese's plan for the football club. Pardew is a more traditional manager, whereas Adkins is more into the scientific principles behind success on the field. My bet is we would be in play-offs with Pardew, but no way of knowing that.
Pardew was asked a few weeks ago about Southampton's success and he said he wasn't surprised and that he knew we would do well.
Personally I think last season we would have finished in the play offs under Pardew. Remember his inability to alter tactics when needed and his same 3 subs at the same time every game. That made us very very predictable and left us with no option if Plan A wasn't working. As for him bringing in Lambert and Fonte etc. Adkins has got them playing at peak. Pardew only had them playing at the level they were already playing at. Adkins has added 10% to most of the players performances IMO. So my opinion is that last year we may well have lost out in the play offs and still be in L1 under him. Watching the Newcastle - Sunderland game the other week made me laugh too. Shouting at O Neill whilst making sure the fourth official was in between. If not for the fourth official I'd have loved to see how quickly he backed down when O Neill gave him a few choice words and that evil glaring stare. I would say that O Neil would have floored him if it got physical but whilst O Neill is surely much more fiery he also has much more brains. Not really a fan of Pards. Should have got the players playing better than he did in that first season and at least reached the play offs, then to top it couldn't get them playing after his ridiculous pre season in the second season. I predict that Newcastle's good season is a one off and next year (minus Demba Ba) they will be middling to bottom half unless he goes. That won't happen though whilst his bestest Casino Buddy is still owner of the magpies.
