We have a total of 48 points to play for til the end of the season and we are currently on 37 points. Last year Nottingham Forest finished 6th on 75 points which is quite a high number so based on last year we will have to double our current points tally to achieve the play-offs! So 12 wins out of the last 16 games at an average of 2.26 points per game I think is totally beyond us. It would require a better points average than QPR achieved last season!

I honestly think that we will now be assured of staying in the league especially now that Portsmouth have had a 10-15 point deduction and the other 3 teams down there looked doomed anyway! The best we can hope for this season is a top 10 finish which I suspect any Town fan would have happily taken after the Leeds debacle. I just hope that we can now kick on for the remainder of this dead season and start to build for a big push next year.

If we look at top 10 and try to get a spine to the team for the next 2 to 3 seasons is the best we can hope for in my view.

Top half finish and I'll be happy that we are going slowly in the right direction.

I always said at the start of this season that we would have a pretty poor start and then push on after xmas and just miss out on the playoffs!! I wasn't that confident in my own predictions before xmas but it's looking alot more likely now. I think its still possible, not the playoffs but anything below 7th, although I am still concerned about the defence, I have a feeling that against the best teams with strikers who actually can move and don't play to our strengths we could ship in quite a few goals. If we get in a couple of decent CB's I'd wager we finish around 8th, which I'd be very happy with.

I still think next season will be a year to early for us to really challenge, I think we need at least 1 more year of rebuilding before we consider challenging. I'd like to see us evolve as a team and have some stability for a couple of years.

it will be easier to judge after cardiff tomorrow, but generally i think a top half finish, just outside the playoff also rans is a good target, though we should never give up on the playoffs, we should have the confidence to go into every game thinking we can get a result

If we beat Cardiff today, then I do honestly think we might just scrape it into the playoffs. It's still extremely tight as it always is.

Really cannot see it happening, massive gap to make up. The last 3 games have been very encouraging, I think they sum up what the fans have been looking for since Magilton left, youth, exuberance, attacking football, far from the finished article but good to see some of the youth players coming through and players like Martin coming good.

The Crystal Palace run is the one people always look at, but that started at the beginning of December, at this stage of the season they were in 8th only a point from the top 6, not the 11 we have to make up!

14th and PJ will get another season.

And we still won't have a right back, despite chasing one from May to the end of the August transfer window. We'll have an offer accepted at 8 PM on the last day though.

Probabilities in these kinds of situation are meaningless. If they weren't then wed all be able to clean up at the bookies.

Sunderland under Roy Keane mustered the kind of form that we need to make the play offs, it's not impossible with confidence flowing though the veins.

Agree with this. At the start of the season this was my aim and it still remains the case.
