On this fateful day 12 years ago. I was at a meeting at work when an IT geek came in and told us that planes had crashed into the Twin Towers. 12 years later and we still do not know what happened. Dev was recounting to me how as a young 20 year old, with a full head of hair, was playing tennis when news filtered through of Kennedy's assassination by two gunmen in Dallas. Any other famous moments in time that you remember exactly what you were doing when news came through?
I was working at Ailsa Hospital in Ayr. Crawling under the floors fitting new heating and plumbing pipes. Simpler times.
I was in London awaiting to go on holiday to Prague with my then girlfriend. 16 years later and it has finally been confirmed that she was murdered by the SAS and secret agents. Shame on them. That's one conspiracy confirmed.
I was at work and everyone was banging on about it ad nauseum. on the night of the princess Di one i was in a cab coming back from a den of ill repute. The driver told me and i started giggling which he wasn't very impressed with.
Had just finished watching neighbours with my sister in law. Her Ma was working in Manhatten and when she phoned her she had no idea about it. Grandpa Pendes was doing a DIY christening for my cousin the night the Berlin wall came down. I was in the states in 1999 when I heard Tim Westwood had been shot. My eldest brother told me and my other brother and we all laughed.
For 9/11 I was working in a bank when a customer came and told me... My reaction was "**** sake" ...I got pulled up for it by my manager!
Has anyone actually been on the scene of any of these massive incidents? I was in the England end at Lansdowne Road in 1995.
