After the beautiful, total football TEAM performance on Tuesday I fully expected every member of that team to start today, they did not deserve to be left out, but DF had other ideas. He reverted to the team that had won the previous 4 League matches (though far from convincingly, Tranmere apart). The old adage is 'after the lord mayor's show comes the **** cart' never was that more apt. McCann was poor, Tomlin was worse and Zakuani was at fault for the first Crawley goal. There was little desire to win the ball and woeful passing. the referee clearly prefers Rugby Union to Association Football considering the number of times Britt Assombalonga was wrestled to the ground with impunity. Crawley played neat and tidy football but looked no better than Swindon and Oldham yet Posh struggled throughout this game to do even the basics correctly. Tomlin was his old petulant self, McCann was wasteful in possession and Zakuani is not a ball player, so why do they other players insist on passing to him? I am not denigrating Crawley in saying they played a fairly average game, they did not have to play any better, they won convincingly and deservedly playing as they did. Posh could still be playing on Sunday and I doubt we would have scored. Hopefully this is merely a blip and the wake-up call that Posh needed to realise they have to battle and play better if they want to get promoted, many more games like this will see us finishing mid-table at best. Jack Payne, Danny Swanson, Nat Knight-Percival and Mark Little have a right to feel aggrieved at being dropped and have to sit there watching that abject first half performance. By his attitude and performance Tomlin clearly does not want to be here, he and McCann should be dropped with Payne and Swanson playing in Midfield.
Thanks for the report OPP ...... didn't make the game today ...... by the sound of it didn't miss anything Did any of the team put in a performance?
