for accusing Clattenberg of personally abusing their player,Lallana? I'm sure it's just ANOTHER misunderstanding.
Hate to be accused of derailing threads so here's my thoughts....Clattenburg's a div who whilst not being the worst ref (out of a terrible bunch) loves his own reflection almost as much as Halsey. No matter the provocation, referees have to remain professional. On the flip side it really is about time the authorities got to grips with the ****e spouted by players at referees as well.
The thread is not about whether Clattenberg said anything or what may have said it is about why Southampton aren't being castigated, as Chelsea were, for even submitting a complaint. I find that odd as there is zero difference. Regardless of substance etc the fact is many a commentator said Chelsea were wrong to complain regardless of whether it was true or not. I'm just wondering why they aren't reacting the same to Southampton.
I know, but think about it, we were castigated as it was apprently involving a racial term after a game where Clattenburg was extremely poor. We were also slated by rivals, which is bound to happen. Have a look on some Pompey forum and you'll find similar things happening. By the way, the comment has been released and Southampton are quite rightly being criticised by some fans if you read other boards.
HAHA I would agree with that to be honest. A little less ******ed than Matth, but alot of the hallmarks are there. Unnecessarily antagonistic to opposition fans with differing opinions, liberal use of foul langauage, blind bias etc.....
But not the press as we were. We were called out for the simple fact we submitted a complaint. They have not been.
Why should we be surprised? Fact of the matter is that we have always been the medias favourite "whipping boys"and whilst we're on the subject of hypocrisy: has any other club been fined for "tapping up" or have the goalposts been conveniently moved once again?
Chelsea have a higher profile. Rightly or wrongly they will receive more press. Also, a claim of racism trumps 'you've changed since playing for England'.
There is no outcry against Southampton as they are a more credible club Don't have a bullshitting manager like Jose and players like John Terry and Ashley Cole.
I know, let's all pipe up with snide comments whilst supporting a man who racially abused another teams player and then got the entire team to wear T-shirts in support of that racism. Well done.
Sorry Bow the fact is Chelsea are a much bigger target for the press than Southampton. Large club makes unsubstantiated claim of racial abuse against ref trumps small club claims ref expressed his opinion on player every time in headlines and newspaper crusades.
Chelsea have too often invited press criticism in the past, and we still get it in spades. Southampton didn't have racism as an element of their complaint, so it is much lower profile. Clattenberg is a mirror gazer with a yappy mouth.
