I do hope he is alright not been online since 1.1.14, where are you Devo?

On the basis that you are fit and well, which we all obviously hope you are, and that you are too busy to join the forum, is their an opportunity for SB3 to become Moderator on our board in your absence, together with all the powers that go with Moderator status?<whistle>

Seriously though Devo, hope you are ok.

Agree SB3, very sad if Dev has decided to quit not606 for some reason - he used to be the instigator of many a good thread on here.

He last posted in early December 2013, and then viewed the site as you say on the 1st. Jan, and not been seen since.

Have either meowth or Stewie heard from him at all, as to whether this is a temporary absence from the site ?

    Hurry back Dev <ok>

As far as I know he has left. He pm'd last year saying that he might have to quit the site, for reasons I can't divulge, suffice to say there was nothing untoward about them.

He didn't leave a last message to tell me officially, but it looks like he has left the forum for the foreseeable future.

Cant imagine what circumstances could have led him to quitting the site - we are still playing (countdown up etc) one of his threads he initiated - good luck to him hopefully will welcome him back one day.

Sounds as though they were personal reasons.

He is sorely missed and I wish him well, as I'm sure everyone else does.

I echo all those thoughts guys.

    Devo will be sorely missed.

So who wants to vote for SB3 as a site Moderator on our board, after all I am known for my uncontroversial, measured and unbiased opinions on most aspects of football and pony husbandry!<whistle>

Oh, that's a shame as he was a really good member of the forum and his threads were always insightful, hopefully one day he will return, especially as this forum is quite small so we need all the people we can get. I know Jake's disappeared too, but he posts quite a bit on the news (and is more pessimistic than I am it would seem!)

I'd back SB3's campaign for moderator!

Why are people dropping off the forum - people seem to be losing interest - still getting good crowds at home games - even today no match thread for the game against Scunny all a bit of a mystery really.

Hear hear re Dev....missed and hope all is well with him......one of those posters you felt you could sit and chew the fat with about pretty much anything. Our numbers are smaller these days....partly due to a team that has rarely lived up to expectation and flattered to decieve too often.

Best wishes to Dev from all I am sure.

I now simply hope we stay up. The result today came as no surprise to me I'm afraid....I saw Scunny on tv a few weeks back in a 0-0 and they looked powerful, quick and were hungry/agressive to win the ball....a league two team with players built for league two. Badly need 3 points against Cheltenham.

Just guessing here, but the move from BBC606 came not too long before our second admin. A lot of the posters from that time particularly seemed to enjoy the winding up and the banter between us and your fans, and we were near to each other in the leagues. But once the second admin came along it turned a bit nasty at times with huge 'political' arguments going on - which many fans found rather boring so a lot dropped off then. As we fell down the pyramid you were rising up it and the fun that they were having disappeared really.

That's my take on it, maybe others can think of other reasons.

Point taken but the drop off has become a concern over the last 3 to 4 months is it that people have found other forums for example "news" - I know I willingly took over the running of the prediction game but that started off with 10 or so and now we have a regular 4 or 5 players its a steady erosion and it is concerning.

Maybe Stewie, meowth or Wooperts have a better explanation for the drop-off?

There also hasn't really been any good news to discuss on the footie front either.

We are in the doldrums for sure.

There's just too many forums out there. A lot of them are focused only on one club. I find those sites rather boring, sites like this where all fans congregate are more fun.

The beeb for all it's faults was well represented, a big name forum well organised, but these types of forum will become a thing of the past I think. What will replace them? Whoever holds the answer to that will probably end up a wealthy individual.

The next step in technology has to be the key. We have 3D tv. The only progression must be a 3D that IS 3D, a walk around/through device that will rise from some sort of platform, floor to roof? This will open up in a way, that your entire space can be projected in the same way to others linked to the same system. The possibilities are endless.

No prizes for guessing, which film industry will be among the first, to utilise the infinite angles we will be able to observe.

I'd like to add as well, that Dev was the best and busiest Portsmouth poster on this site and the BBC too, we really do need another full time Stat guru match thread editor.

Wooperts has been filling the breach admirably, maybe SB3 you could have a go, it might prove most diverting for you?

It's a bit of a vicious circle really. This forum has few members so isn't that active, so a few posters drop off, so the forum becomes even less active, so a few posters drop off, etc, etc, etc, etc

Maybe we need a recruitment drive!
