It is now common knowledge that SuperFrankieLampard will be out of contract at the end of the season! He has made it clear his heart is with Chelsea and does not want to sever his connection with the club. His service to Chelsea has been remarkable over the time he has been with us! His attitude and application has been of the highest order!
Now it has been made clear that his wishes to continue to serve the club he loves is to offer him a 1 year extension to his contract and then it is Goodnight Vienna!
THIS IS WRONG! Frank Lampard is someone who has become a legend, loves the club and every effort should be made to ensure he has a chance to take on another role , say coaching youngsters, when his playing days are over(which I think could be 2 years away, although not necessarily a first team choice).
Campaign please to keep Frank on board!

Definitely should be involved in the future, but he's made it clear he wants to play for "3 or 4" more years. This certainly means stepping down a peg to somewhere like the USA, or China, both of which pay serious money, and in the case of USA, play to a very reasonable standard.
Expect he will then return to us in some role or other.

Giggs and Scholes accept 1 year contracts, why shouldn't any of ours?

    I agree.

As much as I rate Lamp's (& Co) and thank him for his fantastic service we are talking about a bunch of greedy mercenaries imo.

Lamps is a VERY rich man and a 1 year contract is not unreasonable at his age especially when his skills are clearly on the wane. But no, another £7 + bonuses is not good enough it's got to be twice that. FFS these guys really could do with a dose of reality.

Don't think so, in fact, wouldn't be in the top 10. Mata, Hazard, Cole, Terry, Luiz,Ramires, Mikel, Cahill, Cech, Oscar all ahead of Frank now in my opinion.
However he is worth a 1 year contract, but won't accept it. Great player for us, now well past his best, but still demanding top billing and salary.
Could do with a serious reality check.

I'm not going to fire bullets at Frank. He's an intelligent bloke, who's given our club a great reward in terms of performance and goals over a long time! I'd hate to think after the huge rewards he has recieved from us after signing up 12 years ago , he'd have the nerve to stitch us up for his last year's pay packet, after all, its not as if he's short of a few bob!

If Frank really 'loves' the club that believed in him, gave him a platform to perform and signed other top calibre players to help him win trophies, then I say hand him a 2 year contract, but for half the pay and certain performance related bonuses attached. This way Chelsea are covering their finances because we will be paying the same as a 1 year extension on his current terms plus Lampard gets closer to retirement and as I hope, Tamblings goal scoring record

Sensible comment, and sums up what most of us think. Any contract over 1 year should be at much lower salary in line with what he now brings us . Fair to everyone.

He certainly showed today he's got the ability to stay here, I think it's a mixture of Frank wanting more game time than he should get and the club being unreasonable.

JCC87--That kind of offer is spot on! I wonder if the board are bright enough to understand that! I sometimes wonder if the outcome will be decided by those so called dark horses the "agents". The mob that no one seems to know, who will determine a players future based on what they will get out of it! Its all wrong!

agree pretty much that's down to the game time he expects & what he is getting..

however, I would prefer him any day over Mikel !!

Both the Club and Frank are half right. Frank needs to lower his expectations regarding salary, game time and length of contract, the Club needs to raise it's intentions regarding over 30's, offer him a longer contract with a lower salary + bonus for performance.
    Both happy bunnies.

Didn't see this post, and started a new thread.

Lampard still clearly has what it takes, and as he has aged, his game has changed to a more distributive role. He's the best long passer in our team, followed by Mata, followed by Luiz.

only way to persuade the board to offer Frank a new contract is to make our feelings known to the board at the home games.

I replied on your other thread like this:

" Frank can be a real grown-up and accept a 1 year contract - the fact that he won't suggests to me that he does not have faith in his own long-term abilities."

I love Frank, great player and with a lot still to offer.

But.....at the end of the day players and agents at the highest level are greedy mercenary *astards who are hell bent on extracting as much money as they can from the club.

It is a *iss poor attitude and one that we should not condone.

I have precisely zero sympathy for Frank's 'predicament' - we need to get real here. As much as I like footy these are way overpaid people - Frank is a millionaire many times over. Like many on here I would be more than happy to take another £7m for the next year. These lads live in cloud cuckoo land tbh.

Answer this: if he has confidence in his own abilities then why would he not sign a 1 year contract and review matters again near the end of its expiry?

Secondly: do you seriously think that singing a song about Superfrank will sway the board on this? Not in a million years.

In addition to what he could/should do for the club as a player, its also important to think about a contribution beyond that! Steve Clarke and Ray Wilkins, both great players ,went on to become great assistants and I believe Frank is made of the same sort of stuff!
