This isn't another thread asking for people's opinions, as I know all of our sane supporters are totally opposed to it What I want to know is how close we are to having the name changed? I know the Premier League have not yet sanctioned a name-change, and we remain Hull City AFC, but what will happen come Summer? Will we be Hull City Tigers next season? Will Allam plead the same 'restriction of trade' bullshit that football insiders have peddled with regards to the FFP? If we go down will the change still happen, and would the Football League allow it? Has Allam accounted for the fans' opposition to it? Is it really an attempt at winding up the council? No arguing, boys. Please behave.
I believe that the actual message from Assem Allam is that, he will not change the FA listing, but will change everything else. The rules are that fans have to be consulted and that will be a big obstacle. The fact is that whatever happens, he will have to do what he see's as in his best interests and not ours. There will be twatish comments made on both sides, including from me and it will count for nowt.
That really doesn't answer any of my questions, and the bloke who wrote the article is boz-eyed and so possibly inbred I mentioned this the other day. We will remain Hull City AFC, but the programmes, tickets, scoreboard, newspapers, TV, etc will all refer to us as Hull [City] Tigers? I'd be far less pissed off if that was the case, but still incredibly angry and opposed to it. I'd continue to attend, but if the official name of the club does alter at all I'll be saying, 'thanks, but no thanks'.
If it turns out that at seasons end, changing the business name has not generated interest, I doubt that money will be thrown at it and we will not see any more changes. The New York story is IMO more important to Assem than we realise. If we can make it there, we'll make it anywhere.....!
I sent an e-mail to Dr Allam suggesting 'Hull Kingston Tigers' .... Tin hat on .. Strap under chin ...
The New York story is much ado about nothing. All the teams were featured on the poster, and the big boys (Mancs, Arsenal, Spurs) all had subway carriages kitted out in their colours. Not going to do us any favours really. I can see the Hull City Tigers thing raising just enough interest to persuade Allam to go through with it. I actually don't care too much about us being marketed as Hull Tigers or Hull City Tigers in America, Asia, Africa, etc. But when we have Match of the Day and The Sun referring to us as Hull City Tigers, it gets to me. We are Hull City, or Hull City AFC. But, as I say, as long as we legally remain Hull City AFC I might be willing to put my opposition to one side on match days and continue supporting the club. Also, the thing that concerns me is a point raised by a Cardiff fan on their forum, when he said that whilst they've had their colours changed, at least if they ever won a trophy it would say Cardiff City. What if we managed to emulate Swansea or Wigan in the next few years? Would the FA Cup end up bearing the moniker 'Hull Tigers'? I don't think I could live with that.
I know a way this can be settled by the fans At the end of the last home game, we are all to go on the pitch wearing saucepans on our heads. Those for the name change and those against to run at each other. Whichever side has the most left standing decides. Genius or what.
I think some people need to fully understand that consultation is not the same as negotiation. The club may well show they have consulted with the fans by engaging with them. It doesn't mean both sides have to agree or either side have to compromise. At the end of any consultation process he will still be free to do as he pleases
Which worries me a great deal. I'd like to believe what Melu says - "I believe that the actual message from Assem Allam is that, he will not change the FA listing" - but I wouldn't trust Allam as far as I could throw him.
As much as I'd be upset myself, I know that I was a few years out when it comes to the ****tiest of the **** we've seen on the pitch. I think of those 2-3,000 supporters who turned up through the mid-to-late 90s, watching us nearly go not just out of the league, but out of business. I think of how they could end up sitting and watching the FA Cup final at home, trying to hold back the tears on what should be the happiest day of their life, the reward for their unwavering loyalty to HCAFC, as the name 'Hull Tigers' is carved into club football's oldest and most coveted trophy. All because Assam F*cking Allam doesn't really like our historic title.
Completely true & anyone who believes we will not change the FA listing next season has their head in the sand. I am absolutely convinced that after the summer the club will be known in all areas as Hull Tigers
There has been one constant in all of this, the registered name with the FA. It has to be said that the business name has been changed several times. The only difference this time is that the business branding has been pushed into the football element. I cannot support the loss of "City" but will always support the team.
It's rumbling on: no Premier League endorsement......and what exactly does 'consulting' mean? "The Premier League has denied reports that it has refused to endorse Hull City AFC's proposed new name of Hull City Tigers as the club has still yet to submit a formal application for the name change. The Yorkshire club changed its company name earlier this year - when the team was playing in the Championship - to Hull City Tigers. However, the actual team name remains unchanged. The club and its owner Assem Allam are currently consulting fans about the proposed change, which was initially met with a volley of disagreement from the Tigers' faithful. Some media reported that the Premier League had "refused to endorse" the change. However, a Premier League spokeswoman told SportsDirect News: "We have had no application from Hull and have never been through this process before. If Hull did make the appliation, it would most likely go to the Premier League board." Hull were unavailable for comment when SportsDirect News called." http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/pre...league-denies-hull-city-tigers-opposition.php
