So which teams are we better than, here is my view -

    Manchester Utd
    Chelsea
    Manchester City
    Arsenal
    Tottenham
    Liverpool
    Everton (just)
    Stoke (just)
    Newcastle
    Sunderland(just)
    Aston Villa
    Fulham
    West Brom
    Q.P.R
    Wolves
    Bolton
    Wigan
    Blackburn
    Swansea
    Norwich

I think this is a fair evaluation of teams at the moment, you way call me deluded but our team plays quick attacking football and we have players like Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote, Collo and Ba who wouldn't stuggle to make the top teams squads.
    which team would you move.
And also great win today, our best performence of the season and leaves me thinking id rather strengthen other areas in the squad now than buy an expensive striker. good times ahead for NUFC, we are back and better than ever (well apart from the times of keegan and sir bobby (and maybe Dagleish).

P.S - and an interesting fact, NUFC and SAFC have played exactly 81 seasons in the top flight each. thats more than spurs and chelsea.

  2. Everton aren't better than us now, now they lost Arteta they've lost a creative spark.

I'd say we're better than Everton. I'd also say we're also better than Stoke in certain aspects.

And also I'd say we're more than "just" better than Sunderland <ok>

First four are pretty obvious, but I'd put us in with a chance of finishing anywhere after 4th place.

    In my honest opinion :

    Manchester Utd
    Manchester City
    Chelsea
    Arsenal
    Tottenham
    Liverpool
    Everton
    Sunderland
    Newcastle
    Stoke
    Aston Villa
    Fulham
    West Brom
    Bolton
    Q.P.R
    Wolves
    Swansea
    Wigan
    Blackburn
    Norwich

Everton a good team and people shouldn't look at their start, every year they look ****e in the beginning and by the end good enough for top four.

I still think we're better than you, but how quickly you got a squad that's almost on par with Bruce's (which took 3 seasons) is impressive

I'd say we're definitely about equal to stoke at the minute. I can tell because I'm starting to get an irrational dislike of stoke, like myself and plenty of others did with tottenham when we were more closely matched with them.

you really think your better than us, we play better football, we have better players and can grind out more results, we also have a younger squad with more potential and have played 8 won 5 and drawn 3...

    just 2 seasons after relagation

If we go off starting 11 I'd place us a lot higher than if we went off quality of squad. I just think we lack a little bit of strength in depth in certain areas, and are just plain short on numbers in other areas (defence for example).

Dalglish did well with Keegans team, but he sucked big time with his own. I thought he'd learned his lesson returning to liverpool but the Meireles deal and spending way over the odds for some players may suggest otherwise. When Carragher and Gerrard are gone I can't see who's going to push them on. From a Newcastle perspective I'd agree with the op. We've started well and are the best of the rest, but arsenal will pick up and the mid table teams like stoke and everton will settle and push us down to 8th or 9th. injuries and suspensions will take their toll on us.

Injuries and suspensions will take their toll on everybody, we're all in the same boat on that score.

I'm pretty sure we'll do ok and end up having a good season.

I'm confident we'll have a decent season too. I just meant from a depth point of view; we have a starting 11, 3 or 4 good subs and that's about it. On recent performances there shouldn't be any unforseen spankings like bolton or stoke this year. (man u may dish out a painful afternoon or two but I cant see any others).
