After all the talk from our heirachy that none of our big names would leave during pre-season, (and using this as an excuse why not to strengthen our squad) I feel truly gutted and numb about one of our star assetts being sold. I have been trying to see it from the point of view of the management but can't work it out. He is an influential player that we will not be able to replace. He was our second top scorer last season behind Becchio, and as far as I was concerned usually gave us 100%. We have nobody else with the same kind of pace as him. But what really upsets me is that he would never have wanted to leave the club if we had shown the slightest bit of ambition.
Worry too what message it sends out to other players, they look at how the situation has been handled with Kilkenny, Johnson, Beckford, Gradel, Kasper, would you feel comfy signing a long contract with a club that lacks the ambition of those around us in the leage. Say we do get promoted, (we won't this season) then Max is one that we would have hoped could be premiership quality. Age on his side we should have tied him down and been aiming to make a premiership side around Gradel, Snodgrass, Becchio and Clayton.
Grayson then grew a pair of large ears and wore a pointed blue hat, he drove his car at great speed through,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ooooops sorry thought this was part 4
Ristac, could'nt agree more, we were probably 2 players away from launching a realistic bid for premier football. Mighty, wrong kinda pair fella, its not a good day for us...
We are actually going backwards now. We have the biggest crowds and the most expensive season tickets in the division.
Exactly. I mean if we'd have added a good centreback and a leftback, we'd have had a squad capable of top 6. If we'd have got a rightback and another centremid on top of that, we'd be capable of top 2. But instead of complementing our brilliant attacking players with some good defenders, we've just reduced our attacking talent.
