A bit of Friday light heartedness to ease us into the big game tomorrow.

What positions do/did the posters play on a football pitch?

I play defensive midfield. Like ****ing Sandro I was in my heyday,36 now. A beast of a player, makalele like in stature, a lionheart, protecting my back 4 especially our chubby fullback who was great on the ball but couldn't run for ****. Scored 2-4 goals a season...wasn't allowed to venture up top much but I took sheer joy in putting crunching tackles in, playing a simple pass to an outlet and watching play develop whilst cleaning the mud off my hands and shaking it out of my shorts which had got tangled with my underpants as I put in a great sliding tackle on the mudheaps that are the grassroots of football.

So that's me in the Spurs Not606 team .

Would like to know where you lads played and judging from our personalities where you would pit other posters.

I'd throw GH10 in goal. Then he can talk to himself all match about his brother Lioris, whilst the rest of us are further up the pitch trying to perfect a legal throw in..or moaning at the twat in our team who is head down as soon as he gets the ball.

PNP would be captain material. I doubt I'd have the discipline. He comes across as the type to turn up on time and put the nets up.

So where would you play and why?

And where would you put others and why?

I played as a left winger (Like Bale but not quite as good) <laugh>

    not606?

Yid Vicious as striker I think he'd hold the ball up pretty well.
Spurlock happy for you to be our defensive mid you show good judgment but I suspect you are a bit too laid back like Thudd. Speed it up a bit.
Attacking Midfielders. Spurs or Sex always quick on the draw. PNP playmaker extrordinaire. Chirpy on the right, a solid relaible player.

Centre backs: notso, nothing gets past him and lennypops who turns defence into attack in a flash.

Left back Spurs Disciple in a league of his own. Right Back: Roo he will hop over everything.

    Goal; Spurcat.

Bench: GH10 (reserve goalie)plus everyone else ready to come on and sort out the mess.

In my Sunday league days, I started off as a left back but the fact I hated defending and was pretty much like a left sided Walker (without the pace but better crossing ability) I got shifted to left mid where I must say I blossomed. Good amount of assists, set piece taker and I was like Huddlestone in terms of goals - didn't score many but when I did, they were f*cking awesome! :D

In my 5-a-side team I now play CM and have the nickname "fat Xavi"... Not sure if it's a good or a bad nickname.

I was a left midfielder/winger from the age of about 6 until i was 16. throughout that time i was also used every now and again as a jermain defoe type striker. I was pretty pacey and skillful, even if I do say so myself. My only problem was my height and strength as a kid, although I did used to win a lot of freekicks. Now, I play intermittently in a 5-a-side team, and I tend to play in a central holding midfield position due to a) my eye for a pass and b) my lack of fitness. **** running down the wing anymore, one of the younger lads can do that! <laugh>

I think Spurf would be my manager. For a long time, Spurf's avatar has always been Ginola, so for some reason I imagine him to look like Ginola. Spurf's age and wisdom would also make fine attributes for that role. (no offence on the "age" bit spurf, i'm not saying you're old, but you're older than me!)

on that topic, without hijacking Dona's interesting thread, does anyone else have a picture in their head of how they imagine each poster to look? This is actually having an impact on who I'm choosing and where.

For some strange reason, I've always imagined SOS to look like Joe Hart. I have no idea why! So therefore he would be my sub goalkeeper. haha kidding!

Dona, you go on far too much about what you're smoking, so I think you'd be the lad who's always late to training, and therefore only makes the bench each week, getting 10mins at the end. <laugh>

I think Spurcat would have to be one of the coaches and assistant to Spurf

PNP for captain and a central midfield role.

YV as a centre half. Probably the Kaboul avatar influencing that decision.

GH10 is one of those who turns up each week and moans from the sideline, similar to that of a dad who's son isn't being picked. <laugh>

I'll think of some more, I'm sure.

I have a feeling this thread is going to be quite amusing! <ok>

Spurf you got me there! Every now and again I need a nudge...a shout from the back to wake up!

Notso and PNP at centres then. Ones a stubborn fecker and the other is keeping it calm. Perfect blend.

Typical spurs with certain positions loaded. We have a team of full backs it seems <laugh>

Spurcat and GH can compete for the number 1 shirt <laugh> fireworks.

HBIC behind the front 2. Seems to think outside the box, I like it.

KH defensive mid. Doesn't mind putting the boot in.

Up front - where everyone thought that, because I'm 6'3", that means I can head the sort of ball a giraffe would have to stretch to get hold of. Mainly because I was banned from playing in defence due to being clatter-happy...

Roo....ive found myself on the bench for turning up liquered a few times. However the red bull still being in the system helps. As for the smoking. Try it before a game it's great...I'd share a few pulls at ht with a few of you no doubt.

GH is the one who i think would always run to take the corners, free kicks and argue with the rest of the team. Lol

    <laugh>...good thread SL <ok>

    where do/did you play? ....outside!
please log in to view this image

GK - Spurcat...on the bench Patsbighands.

FB's - totsfan...cos he said so!...perrymanlegend...anyone who takes his name must be good!

CB's - hbic and PNP...cos they like holding hands!

DM - Spurlock...better let him have this spot, sounds like we don't want to upset him!
AM - YV...important position and he seems to have a vague understanding of the game, so thats our standard met!
LW/RW - Me, its where I played mainly, I don't do swapping sides so someone i can't be arsed to talk to can be over there...no guesses!

In The Hole <yikes> - Spurf! ...will have lost his pace to be a winger!

CF - SoS, gym goer, so a good battering ram of a striker.

<laugh> Well my age would make it bloody impossible to play. The last I played, I had come back after many years of not playing, I ran up the wing with a fair turn of speed but when I got to the byline I was too knackered to centre it, I was appointed Goalie for the rest of the match. <laugh>

At my age, I'd have to be in the Harry Redknapp role. No, wait a minute...what happened to him again? .
Before grammar school hijacked me away to Rugby, I played in what was then the inside right position.

my youth club team used to go to the pub before a game,so you can imagine how bad we played.the only games we won was when our youth club leader, said he would buy us a pint!

As my college did recreational sports as an option I played football one year, and was pretty much responsible for any player missing games due to injury...
