In his first five games he won three and lost two and on average was scoring on average enough points that would keep us up. That third win has been city's last league game win to date One league win in twenty two games. If you take the league games, Sean's win rate is only 11.5% which on paper makes him one of City's worse managers. He hasn't got the excuses of, they aren't my players as most of the starting eleven he has brought in and when we were selling Albert he said that he was at a club where he didn't have to worry about money so he could wait until he got a bid he thought matched Albert's value so for a manager who we thought would bring us success I'm stumped to come up with a reason why it has turned out so badly. I'm hoping he will turn it around as I'm hoping he can bring long term success. It will just come down to whether the board and fans feel they can wait that long. The last few managers all struggled combined to win one cup game.
I thought he had won 4 league games as City Manager but I could be wrong, however football is very much a confidence thing as soon as the first win comes we can expect more to follow this is especially true of a new side. Fielding/Parish, Flint, O'Connor/Williams, Shorey, Wynter, Reid, Bryan, JET, Wagstaff, Pack have not played huge numbers of games together of the current City team you could only say that Moloney(less than 12 months) Cunningham, Elliott and Baldock have much experience of playing in the same team. In addition the ones who have played in the same team are having to learn to play in a different system/pattern something that can take over a year to become second nature trying to eradicate the instinct to just hoof the ball forward as quickly as you can is hard or at least that was my experience when I was playing, I was one of a few ball playing youngsters brought into a semi pro team that had for years played lump ball soon as you got the ball lump it up to the six foot plus forward and hope he could do something took over 12 months to change the team from one style to the other and in the change over we got hammered on a regular basis, I was lucky I played 3 games got injured and missed the worst of the carnage. The difference when I got back in the side was obvious where as before we never saw a league scout at our games we had on average 10 at each game because not only were we winning we were playing good passing football, and quite a few players went off to play league football.
I had hoped that things would have clicked quicker based on the signing mainly of Jay Emmanuel-Thomas who I have seen a fair bit of as members of the girlfriends family follow Arsenal and Ipswich so I saw quite a few reserve youth games at Arsenal(Don't really like the team but they are taught good habits) and I remember the way Donny played during his short spell there but that was him being brought into a team that already played the slick passing style where players kept on trying different things.
Paulo di canio should be with you soon. good luck tonight, may the best team win. come on you shrews. Floreat Salopia,!. Breath on 'em town.
It went wrong when the fans started making threads about how it's going wrong. Half of you stated that last season was a write-off, yet you're using the last seasons results so we can have yet another reactionary sacking. Our board is ****, but they're nothing on our fans. SOD needs to stay. He's built a decent squad, and we need to give him time to carry on with the rebuild.
If anyone wants SOD out at this early stage they are quite frankly delusional and live in a fantasy land thinking we should win game after game, when in reality we are under financial constraints with a brand new squad with the average age of 22. I can understand people not liking him, his personality is so underwhelming, how on earth can you motivate yourself with his personality?? His interviews are odd, his whispering mumblings and not answering the question makes it impossible to listen to anything he says.
Evidently it was hopeless LAST season according go 606. So after hopeless was finished he has had six games and has 120 points to play for. I look forward to games, lookibg forward tonight. On another forum they are urging support of the and manager. No undercurrent of it going wrong at all.
SO'D is our man....remember Gary Johnson lost 9, yes 9 games on the trot soon after he arrived...now look what he achieved, I believe SO'D will do a similar job given time!
Said much the same when he joined you Dodger - the guy has a hopeless interview demeanour and no rapport with the media. That's not necessarily a bad thing unless it translates through to the dressing room. His soundbites are as confused and vague as Stallone on drugs. If that comes across player level, you've got problems. I can't dislike the bloke - anyone who has no time for the press gets a brownie point as far as I'm concerned and he did do well at Donny. Last season though it looked like he was hung out to dry by your owner in regard to saving you from the drop - too much of a task without some financial support - a pat on the back and vocal encouragement doesn't always work. Jesus could turn water into wine, but there was no chance Sean could turn **** into cream.
