Not known for my patience but whats going on with all the players we were/are linked to? Alex deal done then not done - we are well short of midfield options tom and limited choice for LB - why have we not got anyone in yet! - has anyone got any good news?
Agree it's a little frustrating at the moment, and I'll be the first to admit I keep refreshing the news sites hoping for new info... but the January transfer window is renowned for the late deals as clubs try to extort higher transfer fees from desperate clubs, so I think we could be in for a bit of a wait. Still over two weeks to go before we know our final 25-man squad for the remainder of the season...
Anyone who thought we'd have a string of deals done and dusted in the first two weeks of the window should remember that clubs desperate to buy are usually held to ransom and there are no quick resolutions, especially players who have several clubs interested...
As I've said on similar threads: if you're a club with a prized asset, then you're going to hold out for the best price if him going is inevitable. This means not doing a deal until the back end of the window. A club might also consider the implications on their weakened side if such assets were to leave too early in the window. There is also the chain to consider, too. If you were faced with the proposition of losing (say) one of your star centre-backs, then you're probably not going to sanction the final deal until you've got the replacement lined up. It's a bit like buying and selling your house... and very much like that when you see the actual size of Samba.
You're right though Romney. With all that cuffuffle, you'd have thought Hughesy would've brought some with him!
But if MH doesn't get results with the boys he does have now, and we don't win, what will we say at the end of the month after the next 3 matches???
