I thought i would promote your Twitter account on this site, rather than leave you to do it without permission like you do every day :emoticon-0148-yes:

Self confidence is right up there with a tolerance of blatant p1ss taking in a Mod’s armoury.

Come on guys! No need for a spat... :emoticon-0146-punch <peacedove> <hug>

I think I was expecting a bigger boost to the attendance yesterday than we actually saw. And I can't say I wasn't a teeny bit disappointed.

The covered end was in good voice and seemingly good spirits for the most part. And there were more people in.
ST holders like myself who haven't been to the Valley recently but did show up yesterday won't have counted officially as additional attendance. So the actual number of extra fans may be higher than the official figures show.

Perhaps there will be an 'official' first home game under the new owners (once the EFL stuff is all done) and they'll take the opportunity to talk collectively to fans.

For my part, previous to the news breaking on Friday, I was not going to struggle across London after work to attend the two evening matches the week after next. But now I will be at both games, unless the London traffic physically prevents me.

That was the wider point @lardiman

Despite the massive boost of the new ownership, barely an extra 1,000 Charlton fans came back yesterday.

    Why was that ?

The early kick off and having to work Saturday morning scuppered me

I honestly thought we would sell 25,000 plus yesterday with the new Duchatelet had gone.

    Some possible reasons;
    • 24 hours notice.
    • Match on Sky.
    • Early kick-off because on Sky.
    • Brass monkey weather.
Truth is though, these are pretty thin excuses, except for the early kick-off one.
Maybe the joy of the Play-off win and the terrific first 6 games this season drew most of the absent fans back already.
They had just decided to ignore the Belgian - something I envy them for, because I never could.

Our attendance of around 18,000 is much as it was 7 or 8 years ago before RD began his Reign of Error.
Better times will bring more fans in, but perhaps only gradually.

I'm hoping for better crowds for the midweek evening games (better than the usual midweek figures, that is).
And another boost when the EFL formalities are all done.
I hope the new owners can show the fans fairly quickly in January that there is real cause for new hope.

And the damage RD did to attendances will take time to heal in some cases.
I have to start persuading the two pals I used to go to games with that it's now time to come back.

I saw you in your usual seat yesterday. Where we sit wasn’t noticeably fuller.

Nothing to do with my "plastics" post I hope. It wasn't a dig at anyone, just a mischievous resurrection of the old debate on that subject.

@Smudger603 madd some good points, but judging by Charlton on Twitter on Friday the announcement of Duchatelet’s departure meant we could have filled Wembley.
