I wonder how much longer Chris Wilder will last at Sheff Utd? Down 0-5 at half time at home - some of our fans would be apoplectic & angrily bashing their keyboards on Twitter.
WTE with tell it all interview coming . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/24191933.troost-ekong-interview-wanted-give-watford-fans/
BB are you suggesting that the most opinionated and angry Watford fans are not actually at the games they are complaining about
I do laugh when people say they are never going again or don't care how we do but then sit at home watching it! No doubt we will see a drop in season ticket numbers which is kind of understandable but you just know some will rush back if we start doing well again. Guess we are just that sort of fanbase - a loyal core but a few fair weather ones too. Not talking about people who live a long way away or cannot get there due to work etc of course. Having such a poor home record doesn't help either. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...awful-home-run-affect-season-ticket-renewals/
I can remember in the seventies on a warm day sitting down to watch the game on the terraces because the attendance was around 4,000 and the games did not get you jumping up and down Modern day Watford fans do no realise how lucky we are now compared to 50 years ago
That is true. I think the older fans of many clubs like ours keep going. It's the younger ones who will come and go whilst supporting the big teams they see on the telly who win all the time and have the exciting players. When I started going in the 90s 10k would be a good crowd so maybe our core support is actually pretty low? And pre-Pozzos average was 12-13k with it creping up when we did well. Same will happen with Luton/Brighton/Brentford if they started to dip. Defiantly. Like a lot he did well in the Championship but struggled with the step up.
A big night for Robert Page as he seeks to guide the Welsh team to the Euro finals. I wish him good fortune.
Marco Silva clearly not happy tonight. From the BBC: Fulham just have not been in this at all and Marco Silva is not happy. We've just passed the 30-minute mark and he makes THREE changes already! Alex Iwobi, Sasa Lukic and Harry Wilson are the three taken off, with Adama Traore, Tom Cairney and Willian coming on.
A goal for Tom Aldred in a surprise win for Brisbane against Western Sydney Wanderers this morning...
The big match of the weekend is the Mariners vs the Phoenix - 2nd vs 1st with four games to go. Before the season started Wellington Phoenix were considered as likely to win the A league as Leicester were to win the EPL in 2015-16
A narrow 2-1 win for the Mariners - but the match stats suggest they blew Wellington off the park. Shame I didn't get up to watch it.
The Phoenix missed their captain in midfield. They played their usual game of letting the opposition attack, then hit them on the break. Unfortunately the Mariners are one of the best teams in the league and didn't allow the counter attacks as frequently as other teams. They also have more incisive forwards, I wouldn't say that the Mariners blew the Phoenix off the park though they did appear the better team. Having said that the game went as every game has gone. The Phoenix always look the worst team according to the stats and yet they have only lost four games all season. The Mariners and Phoenix are equal on points at the top of the league, 5 points clear of the third team and 11 clear of the 4th team, with three games to go.
Given the colours they play in, I really should support Wellington - but I just admire the Mariners because they do so well for a small town team playing mostly against big capital city sides.
