Given that the summer transfers are just starting in earnest, I was wondering where we are going to get the MINIMUM 38 points from. Here is my best guess. Arsenal 3 points Villa 3 points Blackburn 3 points Bolton 3 points Chelski 0 points (that really hurts) Everton 2 points Foolham 4 points Liverpool 0 points Man Citeh 0 points Manure 0 points Newcastle 3 points Norwich 4 points Stoke 3 points Sunderland 4 points Swansea 6 points Spuds 0 points WBA 4 points Wigan 4 points Wolves 4 points TOTAL 50 Points which SHOULD mean mid-table.
It's more a case of blind optimism than style Dens! I can hear Northolts brain working out his list as well.
Seems a bit ambitious, but I salute your optimism. To beat any team home and away on our first season up I think is a step too far. I would suggest low to mid 40's as worth aspiring to, any more than that a fantastic bonus.
Arsenal 1 point Villa 2 points Blackburn 4 points Bolton 3 points C*elsea 0 points (hopefully not though) Everton 1 point Foolham 4 points Liverpool 2 points Man City 0 points Man u 0 points Newcastle 4 points Norwich 4 points Stoke 3 points Sunderland 4 points Swansea 6 points Spuds 0 points WBA 4 points Wigan 4 points Wolves 4 points Again totalling 50
We'll definitely beat one of the big boys, and I fancy it could be Chelsea at home. In fact I reckon we'll do better than the above predictions v the top 6 and struggle more against the boltons etc
42 points and Ill be well happy!! Depending on who we sign though we could go for the 50's. Not with current squad though....
How about running a poll about how many points we will get..... I'm not teckie enough to know how to do that, but it would give an indication of how confident (or not!) as a board we felt about our prospects next season. Worth a run?!
qpr will not get 50 points.. teams like villa just about get that! id bite my arm off for 50.. but nonetheless, good to see a bit of positivity
I'll tell ya where the points MIGHT come from - when I know a bit more about the players and teams involved. I was around when we had a pretty good second tier squad - and once in the top drawer, managed just 3 wins and 12 draws before sinking like the proverbial lead balloon back from whence we came. As things stand, there's every chance of history repeating itself. However, when we've finally assembled our last minute bunch of free agents, loanees and assorted geriatrics, I'll do my utmost to heave us over the 40 point threshhold! COYRs!!
Evening Brixton, we're only 3rd favs to go down! ============================= Swansea Named As Bookmakers' Favourite For Premier League Struggle Posted By Grant Nelson | Friday, June 10, 2011 - 14:16 The newly-promoted teams are likely to be relegated, according to the odds. Newly-promoted Swansea have been named by one bookmakers as the favourites to finish bottom of the Premier League next season. William Hill rates the Welsh outfit as a 9/4 chance to be bottom of the pile come next May. Other contenders for the wooden spoon in England's top flight are Norwich at odds of 11/4, QPR at 5/1 and 11/2 shot Wigan. Those looking further for a potential struggler can take odds of 8/1 on Wolves, 11/1 on Blackburn or 16/1 on West Brom to be 20th out of 20. Elsewhere in the football world, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is now the favourite for the Aston Villa job at odds of 4/6, ahead of former Roma and Chelsea chief Claudio Ranieri, who is a new arrival on the market. There is a vacancy at Villa Park after Frenchman Gerard Houllier was advised to walk away from the post by medical experts on the back of heart problems. http://news.777.com/2011-06/swansea-name....e-struggle-3451
Have you all gone completely insane?? At the moment we'd do extremely well to earn 15-20 points. With a few Mickey Mouse loanees, freebies and has-beens we could get 25-30. Again thats being optimistic as teams that don't invest substantially such as Derby, Sunderland and Watford can very easily be absolutely torn to shreds and end up being relegated with an embarrassing amount of points. We need at least half a dozen quality signings to even compete next year let alone thrive. I hope COLIN has some aces up his sleeve.
Evening Swords, the ace up our sleeve is Warnock. Everyone should remember, this time last year. He's a miracle worker!
