does pre season training start? Also, I'm a big Olympics fan and I can only see good coming from young players in a tournament. Anyone think it will badly upset their pre seasons? If so why?

Depends whether you think the Olympics is a valid football tournament, whether an Anglo- Welsh team makes any sense and whether you put club before country. Come on Pete, engage brain, of course it will disrupt their pre- season, because they won't have one with their clubs. The men's tournament runs from 26 July to 11 August. The premiership season kicks off the week after. I bet the club managers concerned are muttering under their breath and kicking cats on a daily basis and I don't blame them. I'm just hoping Fabio isn't picked for Brazil. If this was such a big deal, why have we never entered at team before? We're only in it because it's London.

I agree. I don't think professional sports such as Soccer and Tennis should be part of the Olympics. I always thought of it as athletics.

P.S. Why can't the Irish team be part of Team GB? Most of our players are English after all!

Because they are even crappier than our players - see Euros.

    Athletics is professional now.

The Irish can join team GB if Sonia O'Sullivan donates her medals to the British Museum.

I’ve said it before on here, but only events where winning the Olympics is the pinnacle of that sport should be featured. Having football, tennis etc... devalues the Olympics.

Players like Messi have played in it before.

The only thing IMO that devalues it is teams entering but not taking it seriously.
