AP has been banging on about a new striker for weeks ( not sure if this new bloke is cover for Ba or are we going for 4-4-2) and we appreciate there are still weeks of the window open, but why aren't we shipping out two from Lover/Best or Shola ( me hat collection)? They must all be on canny wages, so either get rid or buy in younger/faster talent .

Do these guys have no pride?

There is no way we should entertain mediocre strikers as when occasion arises they need to step up against the best. Games last season against better defences really exposed their shortcomings.

Well Ba is going to the African Nations and pretty much all our players are injury prone so I don't think we should be shipping them out at all.

Best was looking good last season, but didn't really have enough time to prove himself. Lovenkrands isn't brilliant but still adds to the team when he plays. Neither are likely to be on particularly high wages.
And as for Shola... Well, Shola's Shola. Never going away.

Anyway, we may well have to entertain mediocre strikers, as higher class ones we've gone for so far have turned us down. Top strikers are always in demand, and sadly Newcastle aren't a big enough club to attract them.

It's unfortunately the realistic truth. just have to hope we keep incrementally improving and can slowly attract even better players

Another moan from holystone. Our strikers are crap, Harper's old and crap, defense are useless. You're not of the sunniest disposition are you son?

We'll definitely have another striker in before the start of the season, these guys will be used as backup.

I just want the best for the club and it boils my p**s when we put up with these steamers.

I'm very excited about the French lads and cannot wait for the season .

Yes, I am Tash's dad.

Does my brain in, we've made a few tasty signings but it's not enough for some people unless we spend exactly £35M. I would point out still 6-7 weeks of transfer window left yet. Definitely improved squad from last season so why complain?

Exactly there's a long way to go yet! Paitence is needed and I'm sick of referring to September the 1st for the date to judge us.

Ignoring the fact that we've a history of injury crises and that Ba will be away for the ACN, it would be insane to ship anyone out before we sign someone anyway! Even if we've got targets lined up and a pretty good chance of getting one theres always the chance deals could fall through, failed medicals, random acts of God etc etc...

    In before out please.

This really pisses me off. Our three strikers last season scored eighteen goals, same as Spurs' despite Carroll playing most of the games early on. They did a fantastic job and helped guide the club comfortably to safety. They then get pillocks slating them for not being the next Pele when it's our defence that has been letting us down consistently for over a decade. We were sixth highest scorers in the league last season, but had the 9th worst defence. Tells you all you need to know. They're not world beaters but they've always done the job they're paid to do unlike others in the squad who are seemingly immune from criticism.

Ba. Main Striker. Proven at this level. 1st choice? Yep. He's BAAAA far the Best we've got.
Now onto Leon Best. 2nd best striker at the club. Not many on here rate him that much but I do. He's got a very good work-rate, decent pace & he's a good finisher shown by the goals he scored last season. Definitely keep him. I doubt he's on big wages and he's only 24, so we've a full season under his belt he can improve.
Peter Lovenkrands/Shola Ameobi. Both Championship quality but decent cover. One's past it(Loverman) & one's just.. well.. a legend in his own world & in his own doings. <laugh>

Ranger seems to be on his wat out.. weather that will be a loan deal or a perm remains to be seen. Definitely need ONE more striker to cover/compete/challenge Ba, especially with Ba's injury problems! I'll be happy with this strike-force next season :

Take Ba out of the equation and we have AGAIN one of the weakest strike forces in the Premiership. I think we are being hoodwinked by Pards and the management about signing a DECENT striker to play alongside Ba. Ashley needs to gamble ( I heard he likes to ) and pay for a quality strker but i doubt it.
If we do sign someone i`ll be more than happy to hold my hands up but I doubt I will.
