Hi there all, I'm usually one for reading as opposed to actually writing them and I apologise that my first post is primarily a rant but I as I'm sure the rest of you are becoming extremely concerned about the state of our club and the lack of "positive news" that is coming out at the moment.

We have sold our best player (for what I believe, in a world where Andy Carroll can be sold for £35m, Jordan Henderson can be sold for £20m and Southampton can demand upwards of £12m for Alex Chamberlain is a massive under valuation).

Why did we not hold out for more?

We have sold what I believe to be our best young prospect at the club to a newly promoted to the Championship club which I think damages our position of where we wish to be heading more than the Graham sale.

Our CEO has left (either jumped or pushed). Yes I know that when new ownership come into play changes are made but he has as far as we are all aware always been an integral part of the club's progress over the last few years. Hi sposition will now be taken over by Laurence Bassini who is still very new to the "football club ownership" thing.

Malky has been allowed to talk to Cardiff. Yes he probably can be replaced but that takes time and the search and integration of a new manager could hurt the club more than all 3 of the above.

Now to Mr Bassini, No, he has not been in his position long enough for us to get the full picture of him (he may have some super ideas up his sleeve) but I honestly doubt it. He has obviously not fought for any of the above and has so far not given any kind of impression that he takes what he says to us fans seriously.

I also recall him saying that Watford FC are currently not looking at players because apparently according to him no transfer business has ever been done in early June. Surely he and everybody else can see that that is not the case this season and while we seem to be sitting on our hands waiting and waiting turning all of our key assets into cash all of the other clubs around us seem to be moving in the right direction.

The same names keep popping up, A.Taylor, Weimann. Why is all of the news about the fact that we may look at Taylor again or we may look at re-signing Weimann on loan again. Why are we not taking a more productive look at the talent around, and given the money through releasing players either on free or through transfers plus the impending Ashley Young transfer is piling up so why does £300k for a player such as Wiggins stop us from proceeding?

There have been a bagful of good players released throughout the leagues that can be picked up for free.Whilst the rest of the Championship is picking off the free talent around players such as Bothroyd, Phillips, Woodgate, Upson, McFadden, Spector, Vaughan are all available. They are all quality, free players and Yes their salary demands may be higher than a lot of our squad and they may not all be ideal but why do we never ever throw our names in the hat for them when 95% of them will undoubtably end up playing against us next season for other Championship teams (most of whom are in a worse financial situation than we are).

Again, I apologise for the rant, especially in my first thread, I just feel that unless we move soon League 1 will be calling extremely quickly.

    Hi Harrowhorn,

Firstly cheers for the insight on some matters, I don't claim to know the inner workings of the club and I'm not on here purely to slag the club or the owners offf, I'm simply concerned that so many negative things have happened so far and I can't see an awful lot of positive coming out of it very soon (appart from the dosh of course, but we don't know yet how much will be put back into the re-building of the club).

Yes to a club like watford the DG sale was good business but I'm sure it could have been for more, yes there were apparent issues with Buckley but I still believe he looks like such he has such great potential.

I know Bassini said we have time and money and I suppose only time will tell how well or not we spend the money we have.

and I'm not saying that we should waste our time punting for that list of players but they are just a few of a very large list of players who will end up fitting into successful championship teams next season.

Hopefully all will turn out well but as you said, we are Watford, andas we all know that can be extremely frustrating at times and oh boy this is definitely one of those times right now. Fingers crossed LB and the board are currently working on building this club how we hope they are otherwise I fear an extremely hard relegation battle next year.
