The day of reckoning is among us. No, it is not the famed 2012 scandal, which, whether we believe it or not, are casting a casual eye towards the date.

No, instead, the question I ask of my brethren, is when do you think the glorious empire of Newcastle United will crumble to the ground, in a pit of despair and angst?

Nothing lasts forever. Indeed, my cat drowned recently after seven mouse-chasing years. Alas, I daren't compare the grandeur and spectacle of Newcastle United to that of a rodent-obsessed creature (not unlike a certain Titus 'Sex Offender' Bramble I might add *chortle chortle* )

But enough jokes. Enough dilly-dallying. Enough ignoring the blatantly obvious. Let me get to the crux of the matter. Football has lasted as we know it for a little over 100 years. Jesus Christ is 2000 years old. Dinosaurs were smoking cigars 64 billion years ago.

In the grand scale of things, the existence of football is a novelty. A novice. A beginner. I'm sure there were sports and games that the Vikings played, which we have never heard of. For we, are the olden times. In the eyes of future Beatski and future Heavy Metal Toon, we are the olden people. Graves shall emblazon our names, but nobody will know of our great sport.

So, the question I ask of you. When will this great sport die?

Think the money coming in and out of the sport will slow down/decrease slightly.

Can't see it ever 'dying' though unless they changed the game. Fully americanised and ruined football as we know it.

unlike sports of yester year there was no one there to see it one a global scale. where ever there was sport it would've been localised to one country or something. sport today is truly global and is played in every country and will do as long as humans exist imo.

It won't or at least is v unlikely, the reason football became so big was due to the technological improvements in transport and information technology (Mostly TV) that coincided with it's creation. This allowed it to become the global phenomenon it is today. It would probably take at least 50 years for any other sport to overtake football.

Seeing that many schools shun competitive games between children as it can cause upset when someone loses I can see it being banned in the near future and replaced with a game that involves no skill, has no real rules and no-one loses.

At that point the human race rises as one from it's haunches and does a Poznan.

bit of a sidenote haven't been on for a bit and forgot how negative this pace can be at times (not a dig at this thread or the op just the majority of threads on and after signing a top class player Christ you'd think we just sold one of ours)

It never will and if it does, then I'm sure teams will make another league to play the game in and play the game the way it should be.

Football will only crumble if the world ends and Allardyce is the only survivor.

Agree, I cant see it crumbling in the next hundred years or more unless some new technology sports comes out but that could just be a development on football.
