Having literally just watched Lineker, Hansen, and Shearer give Moyes exactly the same plaudits as Harry, but as one of them pointed out, he's been doing it for ages in the PL....longer than Harry.

Why is Harry the standout candidate here?....discuss.

Before anyone says Scottish, it didn't stop Martin O'Neills Northern Irish name being put up.

Notso I think the Lads north of the border might have a say whether Moyes can manage at that level.
True he has been performing superhuman feats at Everton, but I think his next destination might be a club rather than a country.

My point is his name is bandied about here to takeover, so if he's good enough for that why not England. As soon as MON's name was put forward, that opened it up to a British manager, so why not him just for debates sake. :)

Anyone else see the "Fergie for England" banner at WHL? They certainly showed it on MOTD.

<laugh>...I did hbic! I saw it during the game on espn. I'm really staggered at the size of this storm. I find it incredible even England senior players now are publicly voicing their desires too, everytime previously when asked, it would be the diplomatic answer of ' yeah X is a good candidate but we'll wait and see what the FA decide'. This frenzy is causing all other options to be overlooked imo.

Like many things today it's media driven. Governments are changed, dictators toppled, 'celebrities' made, products are sold, habits are changed, and so on. Once something or someone is picked up and run with it quickly becomes a giant snowball.

The great 'can't think for themselves' mass goes with it. It's all a bit frightening.

English...or someone who can communicate effectively...big difference, and thats what Rio's point is, in Capello, ehhhh! before every sentence doesn't inspire anything.

Being Scottish is not the answer Luke. Why do you say that, is Moyes incomprehensible?

If it was down to passion then Stuart Pearce would walk it.

David Moyes has done no better at Everton than a club that size would expect. Averaging about 6th place for a decade is not really inspiring and the one year they went into the Champions league their league form was hopeless.

Can't say that I agree with that at all TH, to be honest.
If you look at the budget that he's had to deal with, then he's done a very good job.

Everton are a big team, but they're financially weak.
Their main shirt sponsorship from Chang is worth £4m a year, whereas our secondary, cup-only one is worth £2.5m.
Their revenue was about half of ours last season.

I can just imagine Stuart Pearce playing the SexPistols to the team before the game.Saw him at Finsbury Park when the pistols played there in 96 after we had just beaten Spain in the Euros.

  15. It's the tapping-up by the likes of Rooney and Ferdinand that really irks me. If they were openly using the press to tell Modric that he should leave Spurs and join United, the FA would be all over them, but because it's "Harry for England" it's okay.

I'm sure I heard Capello speaking better English when interviewed on Football Italia than any time he was interviewed as England manager. Perhaps he preferred to pretend his English wasn't so good so he could get out of media commitments quicker, or to put it another way so he could get away from our good friends in the tabloid press pool?

Wel you could be right but somehow he always seems a nearly man to me - I would go for Martin O'Neill over him any day

because the FA know that Moyes stagnates with an average squad and for Moyes to move onto the next level he needs money to buy players.......England have an average squad and as money cant be invested in international football to buy players, the average England team will remain average.

however,Redknapp has a knack of spotting a good player for the moment and purpose intended...i.e Saha...and the development of players and ability to bring them through....the only 2 methods England will have of advancing as a squad.

    so HR it is.

Then he FA certainly need to look further than Harry, who will turn the Euro's into one last hurrah for the old guard, I wouldn't put it past him to bring Beckham along.
