... that none of the prevoius year's 3 promoted teams got relegated from the Premier League, and none of the previous year's 3 relegated teams got promoted from the Championship?

Seeing Saints, Ipswich, and Leicester struggling in the Championship, and seeing us absolutely killing it in the Premier League, and Burnley and Leeds also hanging on, it got me thinking if this could maybe happen. Must be a long time since it last did ?

I wouldn’t say Ipswich are ‘struggling’ mind. 6 points behind 2nd with a game in hand.

But for a team that was expected by some to walk the league, the fact they are currently outside of the playoff places means it's far from a sure thing that they'll go straight back up again...

    Good question that!

I'd be interested to know if that has ever happened. I doubt it will this season either, but I'd love to see it .

Right great question and could happen - would get some good odds on that, now and at start of Season even better. 100s to 1 probably

I still think at least one of us three promoted side, maybe two will go down. I have an old fashioned view of it really, in that you need to defend well to stay up. To do anything much actually. Leeds and Burnley are both letting too many goals in, and I reckon if your goal difference is way out you're done for.

But clearly our start has spooked a few teams, who were drawn into a false sense of security after the calamitous seasons of the last six who went up. So West Ham and Wolves give us all hope. Wolves particularly look gone for all money.

Sunderland won't go down but I wouldn't be putting money on Burnley or Leeds tbh ...

... they'll get worse, this season, while we get better.
