....come out proud and fighting and be determned to succeed like our Nigel as this BBC interview shows: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20255818 or you can winge and moan blame everyone like some of the media and sadly some of our fans. I don't doubt for one minute every single Saints player is doing his very best for the club and I am proud of them all. I am standing right besides Nigel and ALL of the players on this one and this Saturday I shall be shouting myself hoarse cheering them on against the Swans. I hope you will be too.
Godders the fans have been amazing all season so you really need to stop trying to set an example when one's not needed.
I've a theory on that its a little like when the yanks shout Luuuuuuuke at luke donald, ths saints fans are really shouting Guuuuuuuu and the just say the ly part really quietly to ad to the atmosphere.
Not some of those that sit near me unfortuately and certainly not some of those commenting on the Echo website. However your point is taken because on Not606 telling people to be upbeat about our Nigel is like preaching to the converted which is a waste of time. However I listened to our Nigel's interview and I thought I want him to be our manager for ever and to never manage any other football club and I wanted to shout my support for him from the rooftops. I really like the man. He is decent, honest, caring, thougtful, intelligent and he likes football played the way I like to watch.
I agree with all this. And hopefully he will be our manager for ever cause that will mean we have turned our season around and picking up positive performances and results.
Adkins is a living example of what you can achieve if you work hard and read widely about your subject. He is also an example of how you should handle both success and failure.
Inspirational....I'll be there and would like to chant "One Nigel Adkins" for ninety minutes resting only when we score....forever a Saint
IF..... IF you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! This sums our Nigel up perfectly I think!
Reading these comments I have never been more proud to be a Saints fan, like most of you guys on here I have followed Saints through thick and thin for over fifty years and have got used to our success being short lived as our board chicken out and do the easy thing, I have yet to see any knee jerk reactions work in our favour. I hope that Cortese reads some of these boards and realises what we are about. My big dread is seeing Nigel being fired and then watch some supposedly bigger manager take us backwards while Nigel pushes his new team onwards and upwards, as I am sure there will be many teams fighting over his signature. I have many family and friends who are ManU, ManC, Tottenham fans and to a man they all say that Nigel is the right man for us and will succeed, hopefully they are proved right and someone will take notice. Well done you guys keep up the good work and the messages positive.
Hi Guys, I'm a Fulham fan and wish your club well. I think you may well be relegated this year (I hope you're not), but I think you should stick with NA. He is a victim of his own success - if you had achieved playoffs last year and (2nd) promotion this, you would have been better prepared/more resilient. Compare your situation with qpr. Saints - scoring... 10th best in prem, conceding worst in prem 4 points Qpr - scoring .......19th in prem, conceding 19th in prem 4 points Which team is a) better to watch? b) more likely to survive? .................it's you! Even if both teams are relegated (very likely), which is most likely to regroup (stick with manager and players) and return quickly to the prem?...........it's still you! Keep Adkins, whatever happens.
Southampton have had some different managers, over the years and, I'm being really honest, he seems like a genuinely nice chap. I like Lawrie Mcmenemy too, especially since that documentary he was on, when Graeme Taylor was manager of England.
