Those behind Forza Eastend, Johnson said, Lions flag day, Ernie, Eastend art - flags, open the Eastend petition etc have called it a day. After five years it had gone as far as it could.
Thats a shame. They drove a lot of fan led initiatives and made them happen, I hope they reconsider. Is this in response to the East end being allocated to the Sags for Louis Careys game?
They have posted this on OTIB... ' From the Eastend Forum: Due the the events and circumstances surrounding the east end segregation and the flag space issue, which for some fans the feeling we have taken the ''when the moon shines'' and eastend theme as far as we can and feel it is one step foward and 3 steps, it seems for some the last straw thus has now seen flags and art boards taken out of the stand last sunday. I therefore give forum members of wtms notice that this forum will close on 30th june 2012 at midnight. I apologize to those who enjoy this forum but i don't feel we can take this any further under the current climate.' It's a real shame,I hope there is some compromise,I am reading the fans have already taken some artwork away, surely there could be a meeting of minds...?
First off despite five years of effort the EE is still not open. Fans have been always told that this can change and it is not down to the police but BCFC. So five years back the idea was to promote the stand using flags colour events creating a stand that was distinctly different. The EE is unlike anything else in the championship and probably the UK. Six years ago it was empty blocks. There is no clique. Many fans involved have never met each other and people simply donate money, ideas, flags, artwork etc and some huge amounts of time. Fans could drop a flag off and have it put up for them for instance. Anybody can contribute if they are really interested. There have been the appeals on otib and the response has been at times non existent. Next season there was to be another push from fans. This would involve a lot more effort and thousands of pounds. It no longer is possible. No point going into endless detail but part of the push involved £1,300 if we had been informed sooner of what was occurring it would not have been spent. More was spent on related flags and new storage £135. After looking at what was being done, going down the ground yet again measuring spaces it has been decided to shut when the moon shines down, fans have removed flags, artwork has gone. It was very clear that after aiming very high it simply was no longer realistic. The idea was going to go backwards. It is time to save fans their effort and money. The opportunity is there for others to have a crack at something if they wish. And that is it From somebody who really knows.
City should be flexible according to who the club plays. Fans in the stand should have at least have the opportunity to bring friends and relatives along without a punitive £20 levy for matches v low category matches e.g Burnley. Matches v Millwall and Leeds members should be allowed into the stand alongside season ticket holders. One way around continually NOT offering discount deals to fans would be an alternative of buying a batch of tickets for the stand, which would allow entrance for set number of discounted games.

Grew up watching city from the east end, the effort people have put in recently in creating an area with an atmosphere that cant be beaten anywhere else in the championship, should be applauded and encouraged both by the club and the rest of us who enjoy the atmosphere as much as we enjoy the football. A question without atmosphere would you really spend your money to watch football? Would you sit all alone no one else singing cheering and shouting just you and the game? The east end will always be part of me and to the guys that tried THANKYOU.
A question without atmosphere would you really spend your money to watch football? I would not be a virtual ever present attendee during what has been season upon season of drab and mediocre football without it. The stand has rudimentary facilities, poor views [maybe a blessing!] of the pitch, but an attractive plus due to its ambience and feel. The club have failed to capitalize on its almost unique selling points and the basis of why some attend.
The stand could have been turned into something really special wrong club and wrong time now. Advertising is now going in this space. please log in to view this image
The club either seem to not get that for some its about having a laugh. The stand should not work at all given the restrictions on pay on the day and a stream of ****e football should mean its silent. That is does somehow you would have thought meant the club would take the baby reins off and listen to fans. More interested in catering and advertising BCFC.
Although this is a BCFC topic it touches on a wider worry concerning the new breed of stadia.....including both our clubs' proposals. They may give excellent views, great facilities and parking. But many of them are completely soulless. At the Mem I stand on the open terrace and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't want to be restricted by a seat or, as a season ticket holder, have to sit next to a person at every match whom I can't stand. In the rush for sponsors, advertising and corporate facilities the fan sometimes gets forgotten.
