I wish that saying was true of Argyle....they seem to have a soft under belly....but after 5 years of a downward spiral....it must be hard to get stuck in when you have no experience of how to do it.........to think that Sheridan could come in and reverse years of decline in just a few games is a rather simple view seeing what has gone before....but I was hoping that it would happen. Five years of decline mean that a lot of previous people at PAFC have lots of questions to answer, why was this allowed to happen year after year...it has just become away of life.and if we get relegated I don't think they will find it any easier in the Conference. So we seem to be in a dog fight to survive, which includes I would think Six Clubs. Bottom six present form. Torquay.....P6.....W0.....D0.....L6.....goals for 2.....against 9.....0pts.....in free fall since Martin Lings illness, even with Rene Howe's 14 goals. Aldershot.....P6.....W2.....D2.....L2.....goals for 6.....against 5.....8pts. AFC Wimbledon.....P6.....W2.....D2.....L2.....goals for 5.....against 8.....8pts.....our next game away Tuesday.....BIG GAME. Barnet.....P6.....W2.....D2.....L2.....goals for 5.....against 4.....8pts.....Player/manager Davids, can he make a difference ? Accrington S.....P6.....W0.....D3.....L3.....goals for 3.....against 10.....3pts.....James Beattie scored twice yesterday, can he help keep them up ? Plymouth A.....P6.....W2.....D2.....L2.....goals for 4.....against 4.....8pts.......goals needed from somewhere !!! So four of us have got 8pts.....no one doing better ?........yet we've sunk to the bottom of the league now that other clubs have played their games in hand. John Sheridan has need of a magic wand at present to try and solve how we can start to score goals. The mid-field isn't supplying enough opportunities........I question the value of Hourihane being in the team let alone being captain......he doesn't seem to be dropable from the team.....what does he do ? The other worry I have is that Chadwick will be available on Tuesday after completing his moment of madness ban. I am going to the Wimbledon game....so if they are both playing I can then judge for myself what they bring to rock bottom Argyle's cause. This is a genuine six pointer if there ever was one......if we lose this we are really in the mire, especially seeing how we play at home. Before Christmas Bristol Rovers looked favourites for the drop.....then John Ward took over.....the same man we could only offer a Director of Football job to, he has proved that he is worth more than being a Fletcher help mate.....so Rovers start moving up the league and personally Argyle are left with egg on their faces. Roll on Tuesday.
Bloody annoying Plym, Ward was never really given a lot of credit by most people anyway I believe but were so wrong and had to happen to us!...well I hope you make it to the Dons and turn Argyle's fortunes with 3pts. If so we'll have to get the strippers in the bar!
hp......I'm actually playing Tuesday......every ball that's kicked......every ball that's headed.......pre-match talk.....half-time talk......the Ref won't mess with me hp.....I don't see how we can lose with that amount of input. If Chadwick is playing I'll make sure he doesn't last long....I'll crock him myself. Of course he could of got sent off last time in two seconds if the ref had seen what he done from the kick-off.
In all seriousness at the moment I couldn't care less what the result is on Tuesday. I'm pretty much resigned to Argyle not making it this time even more so than last season. Last season there seemed to be some fight about them. They had backs to the wall for so long yet never quite gave up. This season I don't see the same heart out there. It won't stop me weeping when it happens though. I've just been beaten into submission this season more than any other.
sensible....you'll have to make up for it by winning the prediction league......you youngsters just don't seem to have the staying power. Present form could mean Accrington & Torquay aren't safe......13 games left....we might get away with another 14pts from the 39 on offer.....46pts is the target. I'll start the ball rolling tomorrow night with 3pts at Wimbledon.......of course sensible..... you will have to try harder at Home Park so roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.
With both our teams being the strongest in their respective divisions [propping every-one else up ] I hope you can survive in League Two so that the 'battle of the dockyards' can resume next season - assuming my club still exists!
The way things are going I'm still not convinced that we will still exist next season. In all of my 50 years of going to Home Park I have never had one thought of going out of the football league or existance until now. Depressing just doesn't describe it really. I'll keep hoping because that is in my nature but it is only half hearted right now.
