An emotive subject Iâm sure and one that has been covered on other threads but a thought has just occurred to me (a question actually). Is sporting integrity less important than finance? Despite all the arguments that abound I think itâs fair to say that IF Rangers were to vanish then Scottish Football would suffer financially one way or another. (Even if it were a short term downturn in income). That is a given I think. Letâs not argue over semantics but the simple fact is Rangers have âdone wrongâ and need to be punished, but to what extent? Should the punishment be diluted because any harm caused to Rangers will ultimately harm Scottish Football (especially the SPL) as a whole? Some Chairmen (most notably Michael Johnston of Killie) have said that we have to balance sporting integrity with financial considerations and I agree, but hereâs the rub. If Rangers had been caught bribing a Referee, would Michael Johnston and others be arguing that we should effectively go easy on Rangers, or would he be proposing that we hammer them? So what exactly would Celtic and/or Rangers have to be found guilty of before self-interest takes a back seat amongst the diddy clubs?
Apart from go into administration, for which they've already been punished, what have Rangers 'done wrong'?
Nothing than wasn't tied up in the business of running out of cash. You want to punish the club over and over for the same thing.
The rule breaches related to, amongst others, the non-payment of taxes to HM Revenue and Customs, the failure to pay money due to other clubs, and not declaring owner Craig Whyte was previously banned as a company director when he was named as the club’s chairman. Stop acting the ****s and you'll stop getting punished
Of course we could tell you ,but if your to stupid enough not to understand yourself , I don't see why I should bother wasting my time .
It is a long time since sporting integrity has existed in Scottish Football. It is quite clear that Bill Miller was put off continuing his bid to buy Rangers, not only the mobs of evil that told the Yank to go home, but also the idea that he as owner was expected to continue the practice that has existed for decades in Scotland. The practice of paying approximately half a dozen referees every season in order for decisions to be made with the need to ensure a strong Rangers at all times.
So far only the wee minor crimes have been tried. When the big cheating crimes of double contracts and tax evasion are finalised, it will become a matter of what Rangers haven't done wrong.
One of the most galling ones is winning Championships with high quality players who they are not likely to ever fully pay the transfer fees for - as well as their wages which were borrowed from a bank and which will never be paid back.
They finally find the payment to hugh dallas firm? Its like the simpsons episode when lisa cheats on an exam and the school gets extra funding. At least its helping ralph, sorry i mean ally to learnd.
