When Saturday comes we all set off for the footy and if it's a home game go to a regular pub. As most of the pubs near the ground are heaving and you can't get served even if you can get in, does anybody have a local they drop into first and how far away from the ground is it?

Just the four home games left now including the Wolves game and I was wondering if there was anywhere that might be suitable for a meet up before the game. The pubs near me are quite quiet before the games but pick up later with showing most of the games on the box.

Can't imagine getting a large group in together any nearer than the Jesmond area but that's within easy striking distance of the ground. Anybody got any ideas? Anybody interested?

Pubs don't happen for me at home games, its drive in, go to the game and drive home. You could go to a local before the game and just get a bus in, or do you want a crowd?

Don't drink at home games either, might go into Shearer's for the odd game, if me mates are going to watch the game there. Last time I went in was when we beat Villa 6-0. Although for night match sometimes go into the Gate pre-match.

I just bus in anyway but was thinking if people were travelling the same way it would be easy enough to stop off before the ground for a quieter kind of drink.

Didn't think you'd be able to get into Shearers on match days. Must be a bit hectic is it not?

Is it before the match, though everyone leaves at about 2.45, when we played Ipswich last season, there was a 20 minute queue outside, but apart from that generally got in pretty quickly.

Was just thinking a few of us had met at away games but nobody seems to have had a get together at any of the home games.

I'd be up for it for the Manure game, most of my mates at home are either non-football supporters or Mackems so I either bring the parents or I've been by myself a few times last season.

We'll have to see if we can drum up some enthusiasm for the Man Utd game then.

I'll be up for it,there's 3 of us coming from Dublin for that game and I was wondering where we should go for pre-match drinkies.I have been in Shearers and The Strawberry before but always packed and beer not great in Shearers although flight arrives at 10.30 so shouldn't have a problem getting into a pub at that time!Any suggestions what I should do before the game?

I think CBP has probably mentioned the best area for a pre match drink. I know in the past I've been amazed how easy it was to get into O'Neils in Central Station and get served quickly.

Ever tried The Tyneside Irish Centre Mick? Just a couple of minutes from the ground and I don't think they'd turn you away. A good pint and cheaper than in the pubs. Just like the pubs it'll be busy of course.

The NUFC Supporters Club as it was then, had it's first meeting there. Well worth a visit for you, there'll be quite a few guys that are going to the game there too.

Quite expensive almost everywhere CBP. Tyneside Irish Centre is probably the cheapest pint in the area.
