Up to the last couple of seasons, Saturday always brought excitement and expectation alongside a little trepidation on how we would fare. But now? Apathy seems to have set in for many. So many don't go to matches, and those that do go sit there glumly and without passion How do we turn this round? LUST ask whether GFH have the wherewithal to make any difference and suggest other potential investors are waiting in the wings. The team appears unable to motivate itself or the fans unless they play Premiership opposition, and we are sliding down the table like Wednesday did earlier in the season What's the solution and what part can the fans play in turning it round?
Morning Shel First obvious thing that springs too mind is supporting the team in bigger numbers than they currently are but that's a catch 22 when so many fans are staying away for obvious reason
I doubt if an extra 10k at games at the moment would add any atmosphere. Eight years of **** football is enough to kill anyones passion. Youd struggle to watch anything if it had been crap for that long. Eight years of blatant lies dont help either
Half the problem is the takeover, half your squad if not more, know that if it happens they could be looking for another club,,, some could argue they should be fighting harder to try and win their place but i beg to differ.
Your'e probably right. I certainly hope a lot more than half the squad are looking for new clubs after the takeover. We have about a half dozen good enough to be involved in a promotion push
In theory these players should be good enough. Every one of them. Most have played at a much higher level, and some have plaudits as being "the best in the league". They don't seem to be able to pass or move or maintain any tempo or stamina or speed, yet they are good enough to do so Even Austin appears to have lost some heart. The underlying feeling is one of disgruntlement and lack of confidence and this impacts on any creativity. UIt reminds me of when Graham was our manager and the players were too scared to try anythign becauser thye felt they would bne lambasted for making mistakes. So they always tried to play safe, and it became really boring, but then mistakes started to creep in there as they were too scared to receive the ball. The change happened immediately when O'Leary came in and just told them to play freely and naturally, not to worry about mistakes, but that it was a team game and if one person made a mistake it was up to the whole team to help them recover. I fear we are again in a blame culture inside the club and team. It can be resolved, but not by a guy that tells players they are not good enough to be in the team, nor when he says we need new players to come in. Every one will be looking over their shoulders. This is not motivational speaking, it is demotivational. I cannot at the moment place all the blame on Bates. He is out of the picture sorting out the takeover most of the time - the team should be playing at higher levels of skill and basics than it is and be much more competitive
we need three wins on the trot by doing this amongst the worst set of champinship teams i can ever recall would bring us knocking on the door of the top two, if this take over ever happens then we will have the financial clout to get some decent loan players in and buy some decent players in january to push on for promotion------or am i living in some fantasy world ????
bates is the one who's bred the blame culture around the club. Pointing fingers at everyone to distract from his own mistakes.
So in effect it should be like a new manager bounce were players are busting their bollocks to impress but its clearly not happening

we need three wins on the trot by doing this amongst the worst set of champinship teams i can ever recall would bring us knocking on the door of the top two, TOP teams are averaging 2 points per game If Leeds win their next 12 on the trop thats 36 points,, Middleborough averaging 2 points per game thats 24 points youve now made up the 12 points your behind you will not win your next 12 games on the trot in fact you will not win your next 2 games on the trot because you play us next week
Austin now has a serious injury most probably because he's been forced to play while tired and/or injured. Any physio will tell you you're more prone to injury while tired or already injured. The players have looked knackered and unfocused for weeks. I'd even go so far as to say that if he weren't as tired Pearce wouldn't have made such a clumsy challenge that got him sent off, regardless of how unfair it was.
We're in serious trouble. The players are so low on confidence and this match was just the next in a long string of bad games. It is going to be so difficult for this lot to turn it round. Yet they are good enough to do that. But without Austin now and Pearce for the next 3, I have no confidence that NW can turn things round due to his inability to motivate
Mental fatigue due to low confidence in each other individually and in the team as a whole leads to a physical inability in my opinion. I don't buy they are knackered, but you might be right.
