Unbelievable statement. We'll have to wait and see who he brings in, but his judgement scares me s###less http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....d_i_won_t_let_paynter_leave_grayson_1_3497182
couldnt agree more. We should be looking at get Paynter out & working on a more solid formation so we can freshen things up when Becchio isnt playing.
Simply unbelievable. If people are after him, take the money! He's our 4th choice striker, but think Grayson will stick with him and it'll be his downfall.
Let's get one thing clear people, Paynter is not our 4th choice striker. He will load share with Becchio, leaving Somma or McCormack to play as the 2nd striker. Paynter was top scorer in L1 the season we went up. That's why SG bought him. He was unlucky last season in that he got a bad injury at the start, & when he did finally get back in the side, SG only generally played 1 up front. This season, we should be playing 2 up front with Paynter being able to use his size to make much more of an impact.
Boggers You ever seen him play ???? How come nobody rates him apart from you. Ive seen him alot. Not quick doesnt win headers poor first touch doesnt hold up ball. Yes he runs around alot. And people wonder why the national and u21 struggle, when fans think its ok to have players with FA ability
Boggers I think it was Paynter that was lucky he had such a good season & we brought him! Cant see him ever getting double figures for us, or for anyone in the Championship to be honest. Scored a lot of penatlys the season he hit 26 (i think it was 26) and most were made from the impressive Charlie Austin. One good season in a lower league than what we currently play in & we sign him because he was free & I think Grayson may have doubted Becchio's abilty. Previous seasons stats are 47-12 and 40-10 In league one. I wouldnt be to excited about a prem striker dropping down a division with those stats let alone a striker trying to step up one!
I don't get what beckford has too do with it. There plenty more players who havent made it than have. Plus beckford was younger and raw, you could see he had ability and plenty of pace. Paynter hasnt anything and his record shows it was a one off season
Beckford was playing non league (nothing wrong with that, I did it for a while). SG sent him out on lone, & the rest is history. Paynter scored a shed load of goals. We bought him. He got injured. He then didn't do much last season. I fully expect him to start scoring regularly this season. If he doesn't then he will get moved on, but time will tell
Beckford was younger with a fantastic goal to game ratio, you could see the potential he had, just needed educating in the game & his pace was/is electric. Well worth taking a punt on Beckford, you could see with a bit of work he was going places, Paynter I have seen plenty of times for Swindon & the brain or the abilty didnt appear to be there. Unfortunatley as much as I would love Paynter to make it he wont. League one is his level & he has had some excellent strike partners helping him out in Cox & Austin.
Agree 100% LIW,his judgement is piss poor at times. We had Barry Bannan in on loan, quality player,& when we had that must win game at Palace he chose to play the inept Livermore instead,& the even more inept Paynter up front instead of Somma. Needless to say we never loooked like scoring. His team selections are very strange at times.
