I don't think he will follow unless PSG make their double bid for them both.

I don't think he will go, because no one will want him and that will be a problem. I think Debuchy will find it tough without Cabaye, and that does not bode well for him or us.

Also what if Cabaye does not go either? Then we will have both little fwends sulking up a corner!

according to Lee ryder he refused to play again today, be glad when he's gone now just hope it's not invested in more French players as they are all the same

Didn't think I would feel like this about Cabaye, but totally agree with this.

Debuchy also needs to go in my opinion; couple of matches now where he's seemingly been trying to get sent off (and was against Liverpool) when the going gets tough, and I can't be doing with someone who isn't going to stand and fight.

    Bit of a sweeping statement?

Don't remember either Ginola or Robert refusing to play (had the odd poor game though), but I do remember messrs Dyer and Bellamy refusing to play because they were asked to play out of position

Agree re Debuchy mind, wouldn't be too stressed if he left as long as a replacement arrived (which is the big bit)

Has anyone actually seen any quotes from a club official about him not playing? If he does he has to go, but he's clearly going anyway. Also why no Tiote?

Personally i thought Debuchy played pretty well today but of course once the moaners have you on their list you have to play like a world beater to get any credit. Why one player should leave a club just because his mate does is beyond me. You cant always stay with your mates in professional football, this isnt kids football.

We shouldn't confuse Debuchy doing better than previous games with playing well today. The bar was very low. Jarvis still had him on toast on 2 or three occasions. I want to defend the lad but he is getting skinned for fun. At least he has learnt you can't just let people cross. He is trying mind, he gave it everything today. Like Cabaye though, he is very petulant.

    Spot on.
He played a lot better and as you say he gave it everything today.
At the very least that's what you expect from him so no complaints there.
He didn't get himself out of position which he's prone too but his lack of pace is always going to be a problem in the PL, and better teams than WHU will try and exploit that. Hopefully, today will lead to more solid performances.

I don't think he'll go in this transfer window, but if chance comes, I think he'll be off in January.
If he sulks when Cabaye goes, I can see him picking up an injury and being out for some time. especially if he's still struggling.

The piece on the BBC website about Cabaye refusing to play has an interesting picture at the head of the article.

There he is wearing an armband with the word 'Respect' on it. Ironic given that he's showing no respect for the club, his teammames, the manager nor the fans.

He deserves six months in the reserves.

or is this what the club wants us to believe
it's got all the Hallmarks of the Andy Carroll affair

if he has refused to play, why has there been no news about a club fine, breach of contract etc.

I've been thinking the same thing. All summer Pardew has been bigging up Cabaye, and saying how vulnerable that we are to a big bid and yet there had been no bid. Then, the first game of the season is upon us and what happens a couple hours before? Arsenal put a bid in for Cabaye and his head is turned and he can't play. Seems a bit convenient. There's no way Arsenal would put in a bid of £10M and then go running to the press and say "look what we just did!". It just wouldn't happen. Which means NUFC leaked the news of the bid and orchestrated this whole situation, with the intention of starting a bidding war. It's become evident that until the books are balanced from the players bought in January, then no funds were going to be released for signings in the summer. So, Pardew was tasked with trying to flog our most valuable player.

The whole situation just reeks. Pardew doesn't want to say anything about it, but he always makes sure that it stays in the press. Commenting on it in the programme notes is just bizarre. He really is hamming it up now.

When Cabaye initially signed, it was on the basis that we were a stepping stone before he moved to one of top four.

He expected that he would be allowed to go last summer. When he didn't get the move he wanted, he has admitted that he became depressed last season and it affected his form badly.

This summer, he couldn't have made it more clearer that he wanted to be away - almost begging Man U to come in for him.

As much as the club might have welcomed bids all summer behind closed doors, you can't make other clubs make offers. The problem for us, is that no club made any formal bid for him until last week, which at 10m was never going to be acceptable.

Why would it come as a surprise that he doesn't want to play, if he genuinely is a depressive person the only possible positive outcome for him is to move on. There may even have been an agreement between Cabaye and the club that if a bid of so much was made he could move.

The club need to get as much as possible for him as they can and sooner the better.

One things is for certain if he ends up staying, he wont be happy, and anyone expecting the player from two years back is barking up the wrong tree.
