    So far we have

    Diouf
    Owen
    Rooney
    Berbs
    welbeck
    Kiko
    Bebe
    Hernandez
    Obertan

As strikers next season Owen and Berbs will leave which leaves 7. I think Obertan may be sold which will leave 6 and maybe Diouf sold which will leave 5. Ferguson said about month or 2 ago that "Welbeck Macheda will return to first team and will play many games next season,".

That means ours strike force next season will be Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Macheada.

What do you make of such a thing? If you think we will sign a striker next season your in for a huge surprise. Honestly I would rather Berbs stayed as he is much better than Kiko and I believe Kiko will not make it. Berbatov also will do a job and will be willing to sit on the bench and likely supply 15 plus goals. Selling him will weaken us serviley next season.

If berbatov leaves surely? I think that Welbeck and Macheda are not ready and probably not good enough. Kikos loan has been an awful Torres like lack of goals and Welbeck did OK but should only be fourth striker. If Berba can't deal with being put on the bench then hold onto Owen for another season.

Berbs is happy to just play for us but neither him or Owen have been given new deals. Owen has already talked about departing. Berbs getting linked to Bayen and Ac Milan and Sevilla and being dropped to bench most games indicates he is leaving to. I am not sure he was dropped out of squad on tuesday due to city game because it says he was ill. Maybe a cover up but he has been linked to move now by many papers. Ferguson stated Kiko and Welbeck will get "many games next season" suggests to me their the replacements for Owen and Berbs. I am quite worried because Hernandez is not yet ready to play every game and Kiko is not good enough and Welbeck is not ready.

How can he sign another striker when he states Welbeck and Kiko will get many games? Unless Hernandez or Rooney are leaving to? We can't give all these players games. Ferguson also stated we don't need any more attackers as we have many strikers.

Saying and doing are two different things, Nohlman.

The guys not stupid, he will need to strengthen his attack if Berbatov leaves, and I fully expect him to do so.

To be honest to sign a striker of Berbs quality will cost plus 20m and we will only get 10m for Berbs due to age and contract length. We have other major areas to spend on such as the midfield and goalkeeping situation. We are not Man City and don't have money coming out of our ears and just have a limited sum of cash. I can't see a new striker as Ferguson will trust his young attackers next season. I can see us signing a goal keeper and 2 midfielder in the summer with Gibson leaving and Scholes likely retiring.

If we were going to sign a striker who would it be?

Benzema is at Real and will not leave and has hit great form
Neymar will not join us, Chelsea, Real, Barca will just outbid us

There is no one else of Berbs quality we could get who would sit on the bench and keep quiet and do a job. Best to keep Berbs till Hernandez and Welbeck improve significantly.

I think that in his second year Hernandez should play most games. His goals per minuet is fantastic and i think if we give him a season a the second striker he can be relied on for 15-20 goals. There is no great crisis but we would be weak if either he or Rooney get injured. That is why we simply must retain one of Berbatov or Owen. If we set out to sign a new player then chances are the Goalkeaper / Midfield signings will not be what we need.

So you listen to an Arsenal fan who told you not to be positive about Utd but instead be negative and always predict doom and gloom?

Nohlman, please make sure you think before creating threads. Sir Alex Ferguson could be misleading the press by saying we do not need anymore strikers. If Berbatov does leave, he'll obviously need to sign a new striker due to many reasons which Munster86 and Alex have stated.

Hizmo so Ferguson will have lied to his own players and lost the trust of the rest of the squad?

To get more games doesn't Welbeck have to play once and Kiko 8 times. Can do that and sign a new player i think.

He's telling them something different, Nohlman.

In other words, he lied to the press, not his players.

What he telling welbeck and kiko they won't play? You clearly don't understand the faith Fergi has in these players. They are defo playing next season for us and likely will be in major involvement to our season. If we win number 19 then I can see a rebuild of the squad because we no longer need to compete to win the league just stay in the top 4 will be the aim for a few seasons. I for would be happy to see loads of young players playing next season. We are rebuilding with Rafa, Fabio, Smalling, Evans new keeper maybe young in De Gea. Welbeck, Tuncliffe, Morrison, Pogba, Anderson, Cleverly, maybe Hernandez if he improves his overall game.

In 2 or 3 seasons Nani should be sold (will reach his peak value by then) sell Rooney as well and allow the young players to establish themselves. Ferguson wants to build one more team before he leaves. Fans will need to be patient but I am sure they will be understanding if we win number 19. Ferguson will have completed his mission and aims.

These young players NEED games or they will never prove themselves. If we win number 19 I can see some risks taken.
