He has apologised but it was all so unnecessary as he should really have engaged his brain before opening his mouth. Malky and him are obviously well suited together...
Or maybe they are just from an age where people weren`t afraid to speak their mind without fear of the pc police?
Chris, people are stronger than you seem to give them credit for. We all have things said about us or are stereotyped to a degree, we laugh at/live with/ignore it. It is usually somebody else who is offended on our behalf because it makes them feel good/superior in some way.
Diego, I get your point. But even if 5% of these communities are "hurt" or offended, then we are still talking of tens of thousands in this country. In this age of fast communication and with the global following of the premiership, we could even be talking of millions....why take that risk? Why call people names or stereotype them unnecessarily ?
Just get pissed off when people are labled racist etc for saying things that are, in essence harmless, ffs i chase money, it just happens to be a **** lot faster than me In all seriousness, should it be seen as a bad thing to want to become a doctor, solicitor, Banker (maybe ) or to try and make the best you can of yourself? How is it insulting to say a people strive to get on in life.
"Jews chase money" why is that a racist comment A China man being called a "chink" why is that a racist comment Tell us Christian "looney left Liverpool loving" smith
a few years ago my daughter was watching the re runs of "The comedians" on Sky, and found the jokes on there hilarious, so much so that she asked why where there no comedians like that today. On that show you had Charlie Williams joking about himself being black, and threatening to move into next door, Bernard Manning who perhaps joked about every race or creed possible, yet his Embassy club was packed out. Stan Boardman used endless scouse jokes, and likewise Frank Carson and Jimmy Cricket based most of their jokes about Irish. Billy Connelly had Scottish jokes and Max Boyce was the same with his act based on the Welsh and Rugby. None of it was racist, it was acceptable humour that got the audience laughing, which is why they paid top money to see the acts live. Sadly the PC brigade took over and we now are brainwashed to find these jokes to be offensive. On BGT, Jack Carrol, a 14 year old lad suffering from cerebal palsy based a lot of his jokes on his own suffering, yet wants to become a comedian rather than depend on social security benefits. If any one of his jokes were told by a fully fit comedian the PC mob would want that comedian banned.
Tbh I can see both sides of the argument. Whelan is probably not going to offend any Jews barring the ones with the thinnest skins, but he should have known those comments would get the PC brigade foaming at the mouth.
And he believes Chinks is on the same level as Limeys Jocks and Paddies. Would you go to a chinese colleague and say "hey, you Chinks..." Like you would go to an English or Scottish one and say " Hey you Limeys or you Jocks.." AFAIK Chinks is on the same level as the N and P words...
We live in a world (certainly a country) where people love nothing more than to be outraged now. Just makes it all the harder to wade through the PC brigade ****e to get to genuine issues/examples of racism, sexism, xenophobia etc... People in the public eye do have to be more careful of course. But personally I find the whole thing a bit of a non story really. People need to realise there are much bigger problems in the world.
Spot on with that. This PC nonsense has got out of control, with money grabbing lawyers wanting to take court action for "racist" comments. Its that ridiculous you can pass comments about robbing bankers and lawyers, corrupt police officers and council officials, but put a nationality in the comment and all hell breaks loose. That how stupid we have become
