Two assists and an extremely well taken goal. Whatsit can play alright.
With 2 oldies "rested" ,and younger, quicker ( not necessarily better ) players in the midfield, the sheer injection of pace lifted players like Ramires, (excellent ) Whatsit , Romeu and Sturridge. Suddenly the whole performance stepped up, Cole looked a yard quicker, Brana more involved, Terry better composed and David Luiz had more time, so less rashness about his play.
The Drogs still looks a tad underdone, but there are glimpses.
This is the sort performance I think Torres would step up to.
OK , not the strongest opposition, but you can only play what's in front of you, and we played very well indeed.
Team selection is going to be crucial this year, and yesterday we actually played our "non Drogba " way, and still did well. Maybe, just maybe Drogs can adapt to this pattern instead of the whole team adapting to him. Great if he could , as it would make personnel changes easier whilst keeping the same style, not playing 2 styles as we have tended to do.
Stability is the key now. So well done to all, big improvement. Now let's have a look at the other young guns, one at a time will be fine.

Good points here - as you say stability is the key the sooner we can get into a groove the better - sure one swallow doesn't make a summer but at least it stops the rot and we can focus on the game against Valencia and getting back into the top 4.

Yesterday we had the familiar shopping lists for the January Sales - won't happen people. Target players will still playing in the Champions League and secondly clubs put an exorbitant mark-up on their transfer fees esp if they sense the buyer is in desperation mode. Experience over the last few years has shown that all we hope for is a bargain basement unless we want to part with "silly money" (ie - Torres).

We might as well just continually play the young players week in week out, even if it is a big game, in all honesty were not going to win the premier league or champions league this season so we might as well just use every game as a learning curve and to gel the players in and use this season to experiment, if we do this were only get better every game aswell then at the end of the season we can clear the garbage bring in more fresh faces and then next season were do better but once again it will be a gelling and learning season and then after that season we should be back challenging firmly and winning on all fronts, 2 fa cups and 2 carling cups would be nice though to keep us going in the meantime :p. Just Romeu to be honest, he gives us a different dimension. Somehow we look solid at the back with him there, although at times today we were a bit leaky.

Team for Tuesday? Remember quater finals of the LC against Liverpool - still a key game and doesn't do the confidence any harm by progressing!

    Cech

    Ivan
    Luiz
    Terry
    Cole

    Romeu
    Lampard
    McEachran

    Studge
    Torres
    Mata

That would be mine, have a feeling Bosingwa may play aswell as Alex and Bertrand. I just hope Kalou/Malouda don't.

Just heard on skysports Terrys banned for the carling cup game due to 5 yellow cards so i'm guessing it will be ivanovic & alex or luiz&alex in defence

I remember ABV saying ,after the 3rd round win against Fulham, that come what may-that team would represent us to the end--even if they made the final!
The team was Turnbull, Luiz,Ferrera,Alex,Bertrand,Romeu,Malouda,McEachran,Lukaku,Kalou, Sturridge! I see no reason why we should change now for the Plastic Cup!

    Blue <ok>

Agreed mate, I'd settle for that side that beat Fulham too. Just watched the goals from the Wolves match as I was at the Hennessy Gold Cup, we looked better :)
Drogs take and run on goal should have been laid into Mata. I thought JT's goal should have been D Luiz's as the ball came off his shoulder last

I'd settle for that aswell, Ferrerias better than Bosingwa, i'll never forget that spurs game last season when Ferreira had Bale in his back pocket all day haha. Hope ya had a good day at newbury Ging, went to last years meeting and it was great, hope you had the winner this year, i sure didn't i backed G.Endeavour lol
