We avoid carnage in Madrid with a weakened team. A full strength Arsenal throw away a 3-0 lead at home to Anderlecht.

Guess who gets hammered by the press most! :headbang:

Because the football world seems blind to how **** Johnson is and the fact Gerrard is on his last legs.

The press would rather we continue to be play poorly but pick an 'A' team than actually try something different in order to improve performances.

TBF pre-match Rodgers hinted that we fielded a "weakened" side. "resting players" and "prioritising matches" were his words. Then post match he said the regulars had been "dropped" and therefore we had a strong team on the pitch.

  5. I'd be happy with playing the A Team, a few tanks made from toilet rolls and blu-tac might help us out :)

  6. Brod loves the sound of his own voice. I learnt not to listen to what he says a long time ago. I'd rather go by his actions <ok>

so.... basically rodgers wrote the presses headlines for them and as lazy dos it took about 15mins to add the game specifics to wht they wrote prematch whereas reporting on arsenal's stupidity would have taken actual work late at night when they were pissed

Quite simply - these so called journalists/pundits don't actually watch Liverpool on a regular basis to comment. They just assumed - the big names have been dropped so we will fail.

Newsflash - the so called big names are the ones who have let us down all season.

The football coverage in this country is mediocre at all levels. If you want real tactical, in-depth analysis, you're better off reading blogs.

    Agreed.
You know that they know sod all about us when you see Glen in someone's team of the week or when they ask why Lambo isn't getting more game time.

    ****

Whether we fielded a "weakened" team, is a matter of opinion, as they made a much better job of it than the so-called first team did in that dismal display at the weekend.

I guess your line up v us will show whether he fielded a weakened team. Cos if he was picking against Madrid on merit, surely it must follow that most would retain their place for Sat?

Well this is thing - I hope he does exactly the same for the Chelsea game.

If he does bring Gerrard or Johnson back in, and drops Toure, then we'll know he's full of sh*t.

I still think he'll bring Gerrard back, tbh.
Johnson really shouldn't play for us again- I don't like to get at a player but I don't see that he has anything positive to offer.
Toure had easily his best game for us yesterday, but in truth he's looked pretty dodgy at times prior to this. I'd give him another chance against Chelsea to see if he can keep it up.

I can see most of the dropped players being brought back in over the next few games, but that may not be as bad as it seems. By and large, they have the quality, it's just the attitude and motivation that's lacking. After the Nuke game I thought most needed dropping from a balloon, never mind the team. Maybe it's the kick up the arse that they need.

We still desperately need Sturridge back, though.

I'd be amazed if he doesn't recall most of them but it's going to be interesting.

Sterling and Coutinho are the only ones who I would definitely bring back in for Markovic and Lallana.

I would prefer to see Lovren play alongside Toure, as I think Skrtel is a liability.

Henderson could come in for Allen.

  19. I almost agree with you. Only one I would do is Coutinho for Lallana but it depends on the system we play; the former in a diamond and the latter in a 4231.

    Migs
    Mankiller - Toure - Lovren - Moreno
    Lucas
    Hendo - Can
    Sterling - - - - - Lallana
    Borini

    OR

    Migs
    Mankiller - Toure - Lovren - Moreno
    Lucas
    Hendo - - - - - Can
    Coutinho
    Sterling - Borini

    Don't know.
PhysioRoom.com had him down for a late fitness test for the Real game, but that was just hot air because he made the trip, I suppose.
I've not read anything on him since.

I reckon he'll come back and score three against you lot. <ok>
