We lose two players, couple of bad results, and everybody gets a boner over Leicester and claims it's all over for us. It isn't. We're still in the driving seat, and I don't think flat top's got it in him to get promoted. Brighten up or **** off.
May the best team win (hopefully both, would be good to keep up our 'relationship' in the PL We used to be similar to you with QPR back on BBC 606 and that went when they got promoted.
Maybe we should have "always look on the bright side of life" play before and after our home matches. All joking a side the over reaction is daft.
can understand a bit of the concern, 2 key players missing in the space of 24 hours..probably 2 of the most key..along with quinn they would make up the top 3 of players i wouldnt want to lose, our current formation rests on elmo in my opinion, nobody else can play it effectively... im not panicking tho, reckon brucey and the allams will come up trumps in the long run with some deadline day magic..
I can't help but be concerned - perhaps because we've ****ed this up twice already and I'm getting used to us having a ****e second half of the season. And the last 3 performances have been concerning - we were ****e against Wednesday even with Aluko & Elmo - and it took us 2 games + extra time to squeeze past Orient. Hopefully we can bring in a new striker on top of at least one of Prossy or Simmo hitting form.
Steve Bruce hasn't shown a lot of faith in Prossie to date ,very little playing time in league games and if we are waiting for Simpson to hit a rich vein of goalscoring form we could have a long wait. We've already been waiting for a season or two and he's never been prolific anywhere.
You can understand the negativity to a point - it seems like a few bad news stories have all come at the same time, ie the recall of Stockdale and Elmo, the injury to Aluko and the fact that we could be losing a transfer target (in some fans' eyes) to a rival. But on the positive side - we have a manager who has managed in the PL and also knows how to handle the pressure of getting promoted from the Championship (The only other one in the top 6 is Holloway, that is why I would consider Palace as rivals for the top 2 places). We have not (so far) had any realistic sniff of a rival or a PL club after any of our stars - so it is looking like we won't have the heart ripped out of the side in the transfer window. It appears that the Allams are backing the manager, so we don't need to fear him getting fired if we happen to lose out on promotion. Off the top of my head that seems reason enough to be cheerful with however many more games to go, and if we are still 2 points ahead of 3rd place come the end of the season I would venture we should all be happy, little bunnies
My only concern is that we get a keeper in. I was willing to give Jakky the benefit of the doubt against Wednesday as the rest of the team was **** as well but his performance against Orient on Saturday has not inspired my confidence in him
It's concerning but we have the right manager in place who can sort these things out. With 2 weeks of the window left we have plenty of time to get sorted. Great post btw TWF
Still 2nd spot. I'm sure Bruce will have plans in place to bring players in. It's all still in our hands.
People seem to be forgetting we are actually in second, and have been for 5 league games. We know how fickle Hull City 'fans' can be and they'll snap up any opportunity to moan.
Jesus christ, today reading through some of these threads, and on many of them I keep seeing the same 'bad week' comments, at the end of the day, its still january! Transfers are still to be made! I'm sure SB has a couple ideas and tricks up his sleeves, he's known to make a few signings in transfer windows and the Allams don't seem afraid to dip their hands in their wallets for SB.. If I see one more depressive comment I think I'm going to slit my wrists.
Make sure you go long ways, not cross wards. Do it right orits just another failure in a lifetimes catalogue.
It's still January, but it doesn't detract from the fact that we've lost 2 star players, scraped past a League 1 side (a **** one at that) in the FA Cup and lost to one of the worst sides in the league with one of the worst showings I've ever seen from a Hull City side. Face it, this week hasn't been great if you're a City fan. Unless you got to see Proschwitz's goal on Tuesday night, it was superb.
We were never gonna win every game though were we? If that was the case, noone would want to go because it would get boring! We need to think more positive and remember the fact that we're second.. not second from bottom either! UTT
Look its simple we have lost two of our BEST players not Average one's, replace them with equally good players then were still the good team we know we are but not replacing them which i think is unlikely or replacing them with players not has good then its obvious we are not has strong, Simple isn't it
We are forgetting something here, Bruce brought in some pretty fine players at the begining of the season, Aluko, Quinn, Elmo, etc then added Brady and Meyler. He has consistently improved our team since he walked through the door and obviously is more than capable of finding the right players to fill key positions. Just because Aluko might miss a few games and Elmo might not come back doesn't mean its the end of the world, he might pull a rabbit out of the hat and find some even better replacements. His track record so far is pretty impressive on finding quality at a decent price so I personally aint too worried. Let the man do his job and just enjoy the football on show FFS. There is an old expression that goes "as one door closes another one opens" by the end of Jan we may have a better squad than we had in December
