He isn't good enough anymore and can't hold a place down in his club side. SAF is looking to replace him for Man Utd so why would England want him?

Terry may not be everyone's favourite human being but he is still Chelsea's first choice defender.

I keep reading that he should be picked because he has played 81 times? If that's the only criteria to play for England, then let's see what Sir Bobby Charlton is doing this summer as he has over 100 caps?

Time to move on. Why can't people accept it?

I feel it's more to do with the ongoing situation rather than perceived ability.

The FA's handling of the Terry-Ferdinand incident has been atrocious. With that, the Suarez-Evra and the Tevez affair, it's been a season of the tail wagging the dog.

Thought it was just me who thought this has been blown out of all proportion, Rio as said is not up to it anymore is injury prone and to be honest not that good. If it was my choice between him or Terry it would be Terry all day a total twat but a much better footballer.
People play the race card far too easily now because they know the fawning masses will jump on the bandwagon and there will be much wringing of hands.

Comical. Our fans just love a moan. Most claim to care little about England (bunch of prima donnas, don't care, don't inspire me, only pick southern players blah blah) but they're up in arms whenever the Sun newspaper whips up a frenzy, its embarrassing. Why don't people get behind the manager and players for once or just do as they suggest and take no interest. Make your mind up, be a fan and all that entails or be quiet.

The situation with Ferdinand has not changed. Like King he is unable yo play the required games if called upon. SAF confirmed this to Hodgson. That is without considering if he is actually good enough. Terry is a **** and someway down my pecking order on ability, but he is one of the best 4 now available. Cahill is monsterous blow if you ask me. Been superb for Chelsea and easily Englands best centre back.

I have to say that Lescott and Jagielka are Englands best pairing as witnessed against the World Champions last year. They embody the spirit of dogged and die for the cause defending. Terry is a bell end but also comes into this category and to win tournaments and trophies, these are the qualities required.

Ferdinand stopped being a top quality defender 3 years ago and has been hanging in there by the skin of his teeth at Man Utd and when everyone is fit, he would be 3rd or 4th choice for his club imo. That's no evidence that he should be Englands number 3 or 4 choice imo and I congratulate Hodgson for making this decision.

I always watch and support England, can only see us being dumped out of this tournament in the group stage to be honest.

The squad is pretty much the same as the shambolic world cup one. How downing has been selected is beyond me!

He's better than Martin Kelly ever will be and that tells you everything you need to know about this decision. Woy was told Rio or Terry. He chose Terry, who imo is better so I agree with Hodgsons initial decision. But to claim its for football reasons is nonsense. If Rio was called up there would be a divide in the camp straight away and you can't have bad blood

Kelly is picked with a view to 2014, with u21 form in mind, because he is versatile and a very good prospect and because there are no other valid options with Ferdinand, King incapable, Cahill, Dawson, Smalling injured and Richards unwilling. And he at least knows the player as does Pearce. Pretty obvious choice really.

Terry should have been kicked out of the England set up after his latest alleged discretion. Stuff this innocent until proven guilty, we nearly all said get rid of TB, and he was proven innocent by a jury.
JT is a bell end and we have done absolutely f*ck all with him, gerrard, lampard, barry, rio, and all the the other old stars in any major competition.
We should have used these euro's as a fact finding mission with our younger, fitter players with a view to the world cup in two years time.

We all know why Terry shouldn't be going, I'm waiting for the race card from Ferdinand or his reps

Im more pi$$ed of Micah Richards has once again been overlooked.
He's a quality Right back that can also play centre half. Im not sure what Kellys done to deserve to be called up infront of him?

A quarter of the England squad play for Liverpool, and theyre only the 8th best team in England!
