After the United defeat, as expected there was the usual flurry of wumming posts on this board. The quantity however wasn't matched by quality. Most sounded too desperate to wum and working too hard so that you could almost see the virtual sweat coming out of the poster. Many therefore came across as funny rather than wumming. Some posts I and other United fans actually agree with and so had the complete opposite effect. None has actually hit the target. Rather disappointing efforts from our ABU contributors. So what's the secret of writing a post that really winds people up?
How can it be wumming when it's the truth? I haven't seen any attempt of wummery on here, just opposition fans telling it like it is. But due to people making posts, you just assume it's to wum. The biggest wum is Math, and he's fast asleep salivating all over his keyboard, whilst sleep tweeting.
HIAG is pretty good at it, none of this "yeah you dive", "your manager is ****" kind of childish things, he just tells it how he would like it to be (presented as facts) and the Gooners go into meltdown
I'm assuming that if it's a good WUM, they wouldn't close the thread like they do with the more factual threads that they actually agree with?
For a good wum you have to get a reaction, you need to engage your targets first. Get them talking before starting to insert small at first lines that get the blood rising.
The least obvious one can be the best one. The worse ones are the too obvious ones. These do not do anything for me at least. May rile others here but I doubt it. The Chavs on this board have been posting more than the RS (the latter maybe biding their time as they have not gone through the round yet ) but their desperation in their posts is too apparent. Falcao is a waste of money Falcao playing in the U21 team (and anything to do with Falcao) LVG hasn't got a clue or LVG is a genius Di Maria is underperforming, is a waste of money, didn't want to get out of Madrid United have spent more than £220 million! ( I am hoping they spend >£300m of the GGs money )
It's not really wumming. Most of those statements are true and commonly discussed by pundits, the media etc. Unless you think Falcao is not a waste of money
Thats my point. If the statements are true why post unless in an attempt to wum? It is like saying the RS are a small **** club trying desperately to cling to their past and who has not had a single premiership title yet... This is just fact.
Wums fail when posted by delisional fans of lesser clubs. What interests me is how our plight is of more concern to our rivals than their own clubs.
Mate your club is one of, if not THE, biggest names in World football. Undisputedly the biggest in our league, of course fans of football in general are going to be interested. If one of your rivals is struggling, it will be a huge cause of concern, humour, discussion etc amongst everyone. Same way I am sure Pepsi's ears would perk up if Coca-Cola started to struggle. Nothing too weird about it.
