Some **** has been banned, oh look a 'new' member has suddenly joined. Pointless, fruitless, and any other less' you want to add
Very difficult to really ban somebody. Nothing at all on a forum such as this to stop them coming back as another member.
Doesn't work. At home you get your IP address from your ISP. It's not yours. It's theirs. It can be re-allocated to other people on the same ISP at any time, just as you can be allocated a new IP from them at any time. You only lease the IP from them. If the IP address was static (not leased), as it would be for example at your work, all you have to do is come to this site via an IP proxy and you're back in. IP banning doesn't work.
i dont really care about ****s getting banned or not, but its gettin the stage now pricks are trying to be banneed so as to pop up with a new profile 'oh look at me i beat the system' since the banning doesnt work i propose a **** list , name the ****s and what theyve done then people can ignore them if they want
this place needs a lil overhaul. a banning system that works and a tag/rep system that you can opt in/out of get it done mick. you have been told
There isn't any banning system that works for an open forum. You can do it by running the site over HTTPS and issuing digital certificates to all members. Unlikely.
Just one would do. Even then, somebody who knew what they were doing could still get back into the site.
You cant sign up for a new name on here with a proxy, try it and it will come something about spam, you can sign in with a username and pass though. So if you create numerous accounts while you are not banned then there pretty much nothing mick can do. If you dont have other names already made you would have to change your IP and some ISP's are more strict than others when it comes to that. edit: On second thoughts, they can probably see all the usernames registered from any ip and could delete them easily. So the only way is changing your ip I think.
No, you can still use an IP proxy. This site would have no idea if the IP was real or was a proxy for your real IP. You don't have to ask your ISP for a new IP. They do it automatically from time to time and if you want to force the change you can issue a command that will drop the current lease and request a new one. True, it may give you the same IP address back in the new lease but you just keep doing it until it changes. Or, repeatedly power down your router until the IP changes. Allegedly.
