As far as I know he had a foot problem before the Derby match so wasn't risked, however he should be back for the West Ham game on Tuesday evening.
Yep, got an unnamed foot injury [probably bruising or something] during training, earlier last week, and wasn't risked, although he was initially named for the team. Apparently, Adkins is confident he'll be ready for WHU.
Says on team news on the website that we are still assessing his injury,i reckon that means he'll be fit but we just don't wanna give West Ham a heads up,maybe i'm being optimistic though? i'm desperate for him to play!
hope so. massive game. hoping for a good performance & win to prove the doubters but i suppose a draw wouldn't be end of world. we'd still be top after two difficult games. coyr.
I'm good friends with a West Ham fan, and because he lives in Chandlers Ford he goes to a very small handful of Saints games each season. Annoyingly, he doesn't subsequently rate Lallana. He thinks he's ok, but not as good as we all make out. Can't head and can't finish are his two biggest criticisms (and tbf, he has a point there). I badly want to prove him wrong - because he is! - and as he's naturally going to the game tomorrow, they'd have been a potential opportunity for that to exactly happen. But not if Lallana doesn't make it onto the field!!
I think, Lallana's goal scoring record for a midfielder shows he can finish! Also does it matter if he can't head, he plays on the wing mainly, an area where heading doesn't really happen. I guess the fact that he is our most intellegent and skillful player doesn't figure into it. Also the fact that he has one of the best first touches outside of the Premier League and to add the many assists he provides as well as the boost he gives the rest of the team when he plays... Nah, he's definately not that good
I'm sorry but anyone who thinks Adam Lallana is not a good player doesn't really know anything about football,i'm actually in shock that someone thinks he is overrated! I personally feel he is very underrated by prem teams but i'm happy that he is because that means he stays with us.
I should add, that he hasn't seen us live this season (and hence those goals). His opinions are based on previous seasons - probably a total of 8 or 10 matches. But even with that small sample size, I just don't get his opinion on Lallana. The lad is a million miles better than my mate thinks.
He got 30 goals over the last two seasons - not good at finishing my arse! But that said a Liverpool supporting friend who has seen us a few times says he's "alright but isn't really good at anything"...
Apart from scoring 15+ goals a season from left midfield and creating many goals and chances for other players he's pretty useless.
Doesnt need to watch Saints live. If he's going to make opinions on Lallana he should have at least watched the highlights on BBC website where Lallana has scored. Not difficult.
This seems to be a common theme with people who support other teams. Pretty much everyone I've met who has a good knowledge football, who doesn't suppor Saints, thinks Lallana is a decent Championship player but not much better. Their usual argument is "well if he was so good he would of moved by now to a Prem team like Walcott, Bale and Chamberlain". Doesn't really bother me tbh, just shows that they don't watch us that much and I wouldn't expect them to seeing as they don't support Saints.
People who don't rate Adam Lallana obviously just haven't seen him play, or seen him play that often. The ignorance of big four supporters especially pains me constantly with their "he isn't in the Premiership therefore he isn't any good" attitude. He is a joy to watch, amazing first touch and control when dribbling and is a danger any time he gets the ball. I have to laugh at someone saying our winger isn't all that because he can't head the ball. If he was in the team to score goals with his head then I would be concerned. We are a lot more threatening with him in the side and he has been integral in Southampton's rise from the flames. That said, by his own high standards I think he has been off the boil slightly of late. He still shows moments of brilliance and still does more than enough to warrant being in the team but he has missed a few chances you would have banked on him scoring, against Burnley for example. *"I'M NOT SAYING LALLANA IS PLAYING ****E" DISCLAIMER*
perhaps his judgements should be mad on stats ..... midfielder - 20 goals! Following season - a dozen or so goals. I can only assume from mthese figures that if he can't finish, he must be the luckiest player in the world with all those tap ins !!!!
