Without giving it much thought, I'd say the internet. Here I am talking to you and having met a few of you. All good. What say you? Preferably one option per poster.
Electricity ! We'd all be I the dark otherwise lol. I wouldn't be typing this response after having not watched the hoops on TV after the game wasn't played because there were no floodlights !
I'd say the mobile phone, remember what it was like when all you could get was a party line? I remember when we called relations in Ireland at 38p a minute back in the 70s. Before STD you had to dial the operator, my missus first job was in the New Cross telephone exchange, she said they used to listen in on some calls when it wasn't busy...
Think Nines has the top placing on this one. Without it, very few of us would know each other. Heck, If Kiwi hadn't been on here, I wouldn't have known new Zealand existed!
Great question. I suppose our answers will be different depending on how we interpret 'greatest'. Greatest impact or greatest as in most complex piece of tech? If we're talking impact, which I think most posters are, I'd go with the printing press.
Ecstasy……for a few years it made all who took it find love in their cold, cold hearts and stop fighting
My sadly departed Uncle was one of the pioneers who brought through modern printing methods as opposed to plates. Not sure the internet is the greatest invention. It is a marvel, but far too difficult to regulate imo. Penicillin.
Surely the wheel? Although those plastic twirly widgets that turn a cucumber into a spiral must be up there too.
