Just thinking long and hard about our current predicament and although most of you might think that our issues are up-front (and now at the back with the loss of Lucas/Aggar/Johnson), my sense is that we are fundamentally weak in terms of creative attacking mid-field play, especially now that (said with great sadness) Stevie G seems to drifting towards the role of impact player.

So it is such a crazy idea to introduce Joe Cole back into our thinking for next season? I thought he was a liability last season (and towards his latter days at Chelsea), but the reports I hear are that his fitness is now back to where is needs to be and, on his day, he can be a really creative force. Obviously this doesn't represent a long-term solution to anything but, then again, neither was Bellamy....

Could have used him this year which is strange after how bad he was but could def have helped out midfield out especially with all of the injuries.

When looking at Cole's fitness/performance, you have to remember the differences between the French league and the Premiership. In France the pace of the game is slower and the whole game is far more tactical. Therefore, I would be very cautious about considering re-calling him. Plus his age is against him and his wage demands too high.

I can see him at a club like Fulham.

I don't think he fits our system.

I would not want him to come back hopefully Lille or someone else will sign him. Like already mentioned he did not want to be here +he just did not fit in our play

Why not? He is our player after all and our midfield is a joke, Joe defo isn't the answer to our problems but short term - at least he offers something going forward and gets in the box...

I can't see him being at Liverpool next season.

He seems to be enjoying himself at Lille and they are well placed for a Champions League spot. Add to that the sale of Hazard which looks likely and they have more than enough money to take Joe off our hands.

As I said in my Loan Watch feature, his stats are decent enough (8 goals and 4 assists this season) and i'm confident Joe will be at Lille next season.
