20 years of drinking? nah...... this quote is why people were amazed when moyes was the choice to succeed utd's most successful ever era. "It wasn't a brilliant result but this wasn't one we desperately needed to win," said Moyes. There's not a thing wrong with that statement given the game in question is game one of preseason and just about fitness... but ferguson would never ever say that... he hated to lose so much, moyes... he's well used to it.
I do worry for Moyes. When Hodgson took over at Liverpool he never really got out of the mindset that it was, for example, ok to draw away at Birmingham. Moyes needs to get out of that sort of mindset as quickly as possible if he wants to succeed at Utd.
He lacks that winning mentality, already shows in press conferences and now his first game in charge. Must be rubbing off on the players... End of an era me thinks
Yep, can`t remember once in the last 26 years when we lost a pre-season friendly with half a reserve team playing. We are truely Fxxked!
And now his first game in charge? has this comment slipped your notice? He seems to be quite realistic and honest in his comments so far yet this may change the team start to win and expectations start to rise.
Its in reference to his comments about not needing to win. What other game would you like people to refer to
Of course, we all wanted some ex legend like Hughs, Robson or Bruce. In all seriousness though i wouldn`t have minded Blanc, Ollie would be good in another two or three years if he keeps up the good work
No but do you think Fergie would have said it? PS...don't know if you realise but it wasn't me that picked up on his comment, I just pointed out that your comment was not in line with what the thread was about
No, just asking if you agreed that the game was important as the poster seemed to imply. You post far too impartially for me to be picky with. Fergie may have said it in a good mood but if he had a strong team out , no way
I don't see the point in blind faith, whether its Liverpool or someone else, I say how I see it. My views or opinions aren't going to change anything
Did I imply the game was important? Maybe read it again and see what I was saying. The game wasn't important - but you can bet your bottom dollar a Fergie team would have smashed such a weak side like Singha All Stars by at least a 4 goal margin. All I was saying is he lacks that winning mentality, you can see it in him even during press conferences. No denying he did well at Everton with limited resources but Managing Manchester Utd is a different kettle of fish. I don't personally see him having the right experience to take a dominant squad and keep them dominant. It will be an interesting season for sure - I predict if Chelsea get a world class striker it'll be theirs to lose.
