Read about Portsmouth going down to the tubes come August. Terrible to see. I remember the great show of support both your fans and our fans put on for the friendly a few years back. As you know we've recently been in the **** when it comes to our finances. Dropped down into Scottish Division 3 it's now time for us to start building again and working our way up debt free. It will take time but with the fans sticking by the team it WILL happen. But what is happening at your team. Are the high earning players killing the club by not tearing up their contracts? I seen Tal Ben Haim is getting £36k a week which is madness for League One. What kind of wages are the other players picking up and if they walk away now can your club still survive? By the sounds of it, like us, you've had your fair share of gangsters running the club and now the fans are paying the price for it.
We will have a longer hill to climb if the club folds. Whereas Rangers are just 3 promotions away from getting back to the SPL, the best "AFC Portsmouth" would be able to hope for would be the Southern League Division One South and West, which is 4 promotions away from the Football League [League Two], 5 from League One, where we are due to play this season and 7 divisions below the Premier League. Good luck to Rangers though. I'd be very surprised if you're not back in the SPL for the start of the 2015-16 seaon.
Jesus, that is one hell of a climb. Will the players not tear up their contracts and save the club though?
According to all the reports coming out of Fratton Park, (and I'm sure you know that they are made to show those giving the reports in best light) 4 of the players are waiting for transfers to get funds in for the club, but there are 3 who are unlikely to be sold/transferred who are "being difficult". To highlight just what a mess this all is, 1 of those 3 players is being advised by the former administrator. The 3rd player got so pissed off with how the administrator treated him that he issued a claim for all back pay. At the bottom of all this it appears that the players are being asked to compromise to the extent that the potential owner will benefit from the PLs parachute payments while they receive very little over a 4 year period. It seems they don't trust him. Can't say I blame them. Only 2 players have said anything - they have behaved quite professionally - pity that can't be said of others involved. It's worth adding that almost all the players signed up to the Supporters Trust bid to buy the club - but (in my view, not shared by everyone) a carefully orchestrated plan to discredit them (for being greedy) has been going on for some while now.
